Kwikset 97300-935 Pismo Door Knob, Matte Black, Round Rose

They smelled funny initially but I ultimately licked them. You read that right.

I bought both a privacy and a passage knob of this line. these look fine. with one exception ill write about below. they work on day one of install. that said they earn 3 stars. however, they feel cheap. the latches are not solid and neither are the escutcheons. Most annoying about the escutcheon is after install you can see large gaps around the screw into the guts of the hardware (which is brass). I bought these to replace two kwikset halifax lever handles that were too easy for my 1 year old to open. That said, they are very similar in price, but the other line is much better in terms of quality (solid cast escutcheons and solid latches). I only need these temporarily to curb my child from opening a basement door, otherwise i definitely do not think they're worth the price. i expect better for this price point.

I fell in love with this lock the first time I saw it on display at Homedepot store. I ended up ordering it from Amazon because HomeDepot did not have it in stock and will take a week plus to deliver it versus Amazon 2-3 days.From the shining chrome look to the Harmon Muster style contours. I pictured it on my front door and went for it.Wow! what a mistake. This thing gets REALY COLD on a cold day that you will think it just came out of your freezer. It is so cold that your fingers/palm become numb just by unlocking and turning the knob to get inside the house. This is on a day with weather temperature way above freezing temp - mid to upper 40s. Imagine how cold it will get during winter season. I can't wait that long to swap this out of my door. I believe it might work for interior doors but definitely not for outside facing door.I will recommend this lock only if you can deal with the cold or plan on using it inside.

I wanted to change all the doorknobs in my house to Matte black so I bought this and the Schlage equivalent. This was a few extra dollars but I prefer them so much more. They feel sturdier and are a little harder to open but I like it and it deters kids as well. This has a cleaner modern shape and the black is a shinier dark black whereas the Schlage is more of a dull black. Compared to the Schlage and the Amazon basic handle this would be my pick

These knobs look great. I updated from some 25 year old builder grade polished brass door knobs. Really happy with the look and the color on my white doors. These came with both rounded and square plates which is great. They are pretty pricey but seem high quality. Time will tell! They are a little bit stiff to turn and the shoe makes them feel bigger in your hand but we are an adult household so this is not an issue for us.
