I did not like the footboard on my existing frame. I mainly just wanted a headboard and no footboard. That's why I purchased the metal bed. The hooks went into the existing headboard and fit perfectly. To attach the piece to my new frame was more of a challenge. The screws that were sent with this product did not work at all. They were very short. I found some in my garage to use. I was able to use one screw on each side for the headboard. It wouldn't have been helpful if the piece was a bit longer. Because I got an 18-in metal bed it needed to be a bit longer.
