Very good book

Nice gentle story. The grandchildren like it too. Granddad likes it the best!

Henrietta the chicken wanders into Grandpa Mudcake’s garden one day, when he puts her in a cosy box in the shed she makes herself at home and starts laying eggs. After a few days Cedric, her owner, tracks her down and comes to collect her, he’s amazed she’s been laying eggs because she never has at home. Grandpa Mudcake builds some comfy nesting boxes for Henrietta, Beryl, Linda & Rosemary and Grandpa Mudcake and Cedric become good friends. They have lunch together every Monday at Cedric’s house Grandpa has scrambled egg and Cedric has a boiled egg in an egg cup. Henrietta has started to lay eggs at home, Grandpa calls her Henrietta the Happy Hen!

We love this series. My Grandchild are 5 and 4. They absolutely love them.

Grandpa Mudcake learns about a new animal, a chicken. This chicken is especially curious, which is how she escaped from her yard. Grandpa Mudcake eventually finds the owner of the chicken and they become friends.

A step up at least from the author's other writing that I have reviewed. It turns out Grandpa is a chicken lover and quite handy with fixing and making things. Nice to see he isn't spending his retirement watching TV or reading books like this one.
