What size fishing line goes with this? As in, if I were to purchase extra, what size do I need to get?

I'd recommend 6 lb. test monofilament for general purpose use, like fishing for trout, sunfish, bluegills, perch, catfish, carp. If you're thinking about fishing for larger fish like bass or shad, I'd recommend using 8 lb. test. Buy good monofilament, not the el-cheapo stuff that costs $1.99 for 300 yds. I use Stren.

i really wish fishing pole product discription shows what type of action pole it is. So is this light, mediumn, or heavy action?

I cant find any indication on the pole but it feels medium. It is definitely not ultra light or light. The reel is ok but not fantastic. It's a good basic starter rod. As I bought a few more I have just used this as my bottom rod all rigged up and ready to go. It will cast decent with some weight.
