Great, well-rounded sound.
I compared three in-ceiling speakers: The Bose 8", these, and the Yamaha 8". The Bose had amazing highs and mids, the JBL's were the most well rounded sound, and the Yamaha's were very very good. Since the Y's are the cheapest, I would say they are the best value for the money. But excellent sound is what I was after so I kept the Bose and put them in a room that could accommodate a sub-woofer (got the low end Polk) and that system sounds *fantastic* and I kept the JBL's and used them stand alone.I highly recommend pairs of ceiling speakers. It's a great way to set up your music. The speakers are basically invisible but shower you with balanced, stereo sound. Feel sorry for people who only know mushy bluetooth music coming from a single speaker. It's not the way that the music was intended to be heard.

I would mark Studio 8ic as a good middle level speaker
I purchased two Studio ceiling speakers, but Amazon sent me one Arena 8ic. This gave me a chance to compare the two ( Studio 8ic and Arena 8ic). Cosmetically wise, they are identical. I drive them with a 200w Luxman amplifier, and with a Jbl 4312 speaker as a reference. They were connected to the amplifier by some mid-low quality speaker wires which were wired in ceiling some 20 years ago. The result is that Studio 8ic is typical Jbl monitor kind speaker, very neutral and clear. Arena is coming with enforced bass and some added information. The difference of two is very obvious, I and my 70 year's old father-in-law both can hear the difference of the two speakers. I kept Studio, because I need piano is piano and violin is violin. But I would think that some bars or alike may prefer to the effect of Arena. If using digital pictures as an example. Studio is closed to to what the pictures really are, and arena has already processed the pictures with some filters.Besides, I and my father in law can hardly tell the difference when we compare Studio 8ic with B&W cwm800 ceiling speaker. Price wise, Studio and B&W cwm800 are in the similar price level. In a bigger picture, I would mark Studio 8ic as a good middle level speaker, which well deserves its selling price.

Ahhhhhhhhh, just what I needed.
First thing , these speakers are SUPER attractive! Build quality seems to be on par with any and all competitors in this price range. I'm using them as rear surround speakers due to limited space behind my main seating position in a 7.1 setup running off a Yamaha Aventage rx-a 780. Highs are high and crip, mids are clean and clear, and lows have just the right amount of rumble to make their presence known. Installation was easy.. Trace the stencil, cut the hole, attach speaker wires, screw down the tabs, and slap the magnetic cover on.. Turn on receiver, and enjoy! You won't be disappointed!

Good sounding ceiling speakers
I recently installed ceiling speakers in every room of my new home. I initially purchased one pair of these JBL 6IC, plus one pair of Yamaha, and one pair of Klipsch ceiling speakers. I tested each speaker with pink noise and a spectrum analyzer. The JBL had the smoothest audio curve, and surprisingly the best bass response, considering the Yamaha and Klipsch are both 8" woofers. So I ended up buying 10 of the JBL's for my home. The Klipsch pair went into the kitchen, and Yamaha in ceiling over the back deck.

JBL Arena 6IC
The item is easy to install like most of the ceiling speaker in the market, I bought this to replace my existing Polk Audio ceiling. It definitely sound better and the sound are wider as compare the Polk Audio.Good product, if the price are lower then I will consider to buy a few more for other rooms.

They sound the same as my $20/pair Radioshack 6.5's
Sound is flat. Not much bass and the highs are a bit tinny. I thought for the money they would blow away the 20 year old Radioshack 40w 6.5’s I replaced. Honestly I can barely hear a difference. I wish I could send them back and try some cheaper options but the hole is much bigger for the JBL. I had to cut 3/4" more all the way around. Now I doubt other 6.5's will fit.

I wasn't terribly impressed with these speakers
I wasn't terribly impressed with these speakers. There were very few reviews, but considering JBL's respect in the pro industry I thought I'd give them a try. I also thought considering other studio 2 products got rave reviews like the JBL Studio 230 bookshelf speakers that they'd be similar since it's the same line. Unfortunately they sounded flat and the bass wasn't clean sounding. Additionally, I was disappointed that the new construction bracket for this speaker is no longer manufactured. I contacted JBL via email and phone and both confirmed there is no bracket available for sale for these speakers even though the PCK8C is listed on the speakers spec sheet. I ended up auditioning a Speakercraft Profile 8 Three (ASM58301) next to the JBL and it blew the JBL out of the water. My wife scoffed at me as an audio snob when I said I wanted to send the JBLs back, so I had her blindly listen to the two and she immediately knew which one was the speakercraft and said there's a huge difference. Just picking the two speakers up you can tell from the weight which is better. I ended up finding the Speakercraft for around the same price as normally I think it's $500 which would explain the quality difference. The JBL isn't terrible, but I bought 4 of these for a kitchen and I would have felt sick if I spent $1000 on these when I could have had the speakercrafts.
