A Carnival Ride through Hell.
I will start this review off by saying that I just finished watching this film for the one night early premiere for the Fathom Events showing. I also have seen all of Rob Zombies movies except "The Lords of Salem" which I intend to watch and I love all of his films. The story is very simple it is about five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween in 1976 and they are then forced to survive 12 hours in "Murderworld" and that is the story. The acting was well cast. I didn't know the people who got kidnapped but they played their parts extremely well. The people who played the sociopath clowns were excellent. The costumes were on point and also made you chuckle which I believe was the desired effect. The star of this film though was Doom-Head who was played by Richard Brake. He honestly deserves an award for his performance which was immaculate. The action was dope. I mean the kills and the maiming were Incredible. I personally can't wait for the NC-17 version to release like Rob Zombie said it would because that will be even more Intense. The cinematography was impeccable in my opinion. The camera angels were all shot to induce a sense of dread and claustrophobia. I personally never got scared but that is because I'm a horror fiend. The location was a perfect choice even though it was shot in what appeared to be a warehouse but the team made it work. I will close with this and that is that this is a Must-Watch film. I plan to buy it Day One when it releases. The whole movie never felt rushed which is a major downfall especially in the horror/gore movies of today. The ending was realistic and not cheesy in my opinion. I personally feel anyone who loves a good manhunt movie will fall in love with this film as I did and thanks.

Bloody weird!
Hi. Strange as it seems, the 1st time I ever saw Richard Brake in a movie-I remember thinking he'd be darned creepy in a joker type blood and gore movie because his eyes and his voice can creep you out. Rob Zombie must've heard my thoughts because this is exactly what I imagined him being in. I love it! There are times when you feel absolutely horrible, you just want to see someone else feel worse than you do (but not for real) and a movie like this kind of makes the pain less for a while. If your reading this I hope that makes some kind of sense because it's hard to explain other than it gives me escapism from my own agony. The bloodier the better, It's transference, hit your arm till the pain in your foot goes away, watch a sick movie till the pain in yourself is focused on the people in the movie instead of yourself. This is a REAL good one for that. I did miss Sheri being 'Baby Firefly' and I sorely missed 'Otis'. Still I liked it. Of course if your not into or a fan of sick, twisted, bloody violence, you might not take to it. Any fan of Richard Brake I think would enjoy him take on the part of 'Doomhead' with such delicious glee. I did. Fire

Pardon me for rambling, but I'm not sure how to review this film.
You know, I grew up on White Zombie's music, but i never really took to his theatric endeavors.House of a thousand corpses was, in my opinion, a very boring and poorly done attempt at grind house horror. It has some serious personality, and I liked Captain Spaulding's character, but the movie was unwatchable to me.The Devil's Rejects, I saw in theater with a friend who had just found out that his Huntington's was activating. If you know what that means, then you know why I went to the theater with him, despite the fact I had no desire to see the film. I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed The Devil's Rejects, it was interesting to a young me to see an audience full of people go from hating these deranged characters to cheering for them by the end. Good job Mr. Zombie. However, I haven't been able to watch the movie again. It's not that good.I my wife really likes his version of Halloween, and I can't tell you that I /hate/ it. It's actually really good for what it is. The same can be said for his remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So, on to this film. I'd avoided it despite some morbid curiosity, but this last weekend, we were rained in and after watching Pete's Dragon (which I wasn't a fan of) and Home (for the five thousandth time), and following it up with the original Harry Potter, by the time we put the kids down, the wife and I were not in the right cognitive space to watch something deep and engaging. We need dumb, adult fun. After perusing the new releases, we didn't see anything, she asked if I had seen this one yet, I said no, we watched it.What we got was not an Oscar level offering, but I have to tell you, it's not nearly as "hyper-violent" as people paint it out to be. It's hokey, it's a silly survival movie. I don't recall if they ever explain how the game came about being called "31", but the gist of the movie is that some wealthy elites of society get together every year, have some random folks abducted, and they put them through a maze of survival where they're being hunted down by various "heads". It's such a generic plot, similar types of movies have been done many, many times over. Just not by Mr. Zombie. As it goes, the characters are relatively flat, Doom-Head and the Nazi Midget who speaks Spanish are probably the most interesting/entertaining. Doom-Head is given to long, boring speeches that probably sound awesome to your average Zombie film fan, but they're really pretty vapid musings written by someone with little literary poise who set out to create some "tough sounding lines". His opening monologue is the best, the rest of them really are laughable. I didn't find anything that went on to be particularly "graphic" compared to other such "gore fests", I'll never forget watching "Feast" with my girlfriend at the time, THAT is a graphic move that's ridiculously over the top, but still stupidly entertaining. In the end 31 is akin the most the recent Judge Dredd in that it's a survival tale where the heroes have to make it through X to survive. No reward is ever offered, no one has ever survived, no one is going to... blah blah blah.As it stands, I will definitely give the film a 4/5 with the understanding that the rating is genre specific, if you like these kind of films, you'll be properly amused with this one. If you want something like House of a Thousand Corpses or The Devil's Rejects, I'll caution you this isn't that type of film.I can't help but point out that to me this film feels like practice for Zombie, he obviously is a capable director if you look at Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, both of which were miles ahead of 1k Corpses and Rejects, of which, Rejects was an infinitely more stable offering than Corpses. I would imagine if he keeps himself on the direction his films seem to be traveling, he'll manage to eventually create that cross audience specter he's angling for, something that, like his music, is so outside the norm but so easily palatable to the masses, it catches on well outside it's intended audience for now though, he's still a niche director and inside that niche this is one of his better films.

Rob Zombies worst movie
When I initially saw this movie I kind of liked it but on second viewing I despise it. I love Rob Zombies music and his other movies, (exception, Three from Hell). There are some good ideas in this movie but the storytelling and dialog are cringe worthy. The exception is the first scene of the film. Pity it did not keep that standard up for the rest of the movie
