Perfect and convenient
Work perfectly as described on my 2017 Nissan Maxima however I had I buy a two male to one female USB type A in order to supply more electric to the device. But once it is connected it worked like a charm

Its quite unreliable. Extremely slow. Keeps disconnecting. Regretfully i have bought 2 as it must have had a fake review. Both devices are disappointing.

2019 Mustang Sync 3.4 - A little slow, but works!
I updated my 2019 Mustang to the latest version of Sync 3.4. I've been using wired CarPlay on various vehicles for the last 5 years, but I got tired of searching for the cable to plug it in. After reading mixed reviews on this device, I wasn't sure what to expect. But I have been pleasantly surprised! While not perfect, it is much better than always plugging my iPhone in.Good:- I read a review saying the audio quality was not good. I haven't experienced any difference in quality.- I read a review saying it would not dim the screen at night. Mine dims perfectly fine.- I read a review saying it would show button highlights like CarPlay does when the vehicle does not have a touch screen. Most of the time that isn't the case, but one time when I first got in the vehicle and a notification came in, the 'OK' button was highlighted. But once I tapped 'OK', the highlight was gone and didn't show in any other apps.- With the new MagSafe mount I also purchased for my iPhone 12, I hop in the car, set the iPhone down and drive off. CarPlay starts up with music and directions while I'm buckling and pulling out. I love it!Untested:- I've only used it 7 times so far, and the longest trip was about 45 minutes. I will come back to update if I run into any issues / crashes with longer drives or more usage.Bad:- It takes about 10 seconds from the time I push my car's start button until CarPlay is fully up and running. Not horrible, and still saves me a lot of time. However, I would love it to be a little quicker. As it is now, I hit the start button, buckle up and just as I start pulling out, it finishes connecting and is ready to go.- There is a slight delay on the touch screen. I'd say less than 1 second, but when you are use to an extremely responsive screen, it can be a little annoying. However, I believe this is caused by wireless CarPlay, not by this device itself.Overall I love it! If it keeps working as it does now for a year or two, it will be well worth the purchase price.** 1 Month Update **I've been using it for a month now and it's still working great. One review said the iPhone needed to be close to the device to work reliably, so I typically put my iPhone on the MagSafe charger that is only 16" away. However, one day I accidentally left my phone in a bag that I put in the trunk. To my surprise, it connected and worked fine the entire drive home!** 6 month Update **It has been working almost perfect for the last 6 months! Twice that I can recall it wouldn't connect, so I had to unplug it for a second, but then it came right up. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. When I drive my wife's vehicle, I find myself staring at the radio thinking CarPlay will pop up until I remember I have to plug my iPhone in. I've thought about buying her one too, but she always plugs her phone in to charge it.

Worked about 75% of the time... until it didn't.
I took the reviews of this product with a grain of salt because Carplay is naturally finicky. In my 2020 Civic, it behaves normally about ~90% of the time. Introducing a hacky way to get wireless Carplay is obviously going to kneecap the reliability, but how much?I decided to gamble on this thing to find out.Setup on day-1 was pretty straight forward. I did have issues initially pairing my phone because I was within range of my home wifi network. Evidently the iPhone is too stupid to let go of a known network during the pairing process. This can be remedied by simply forgetting your home network (or since you're in your car anyway, drive like 300 feet away -- out of the range of your network -- and then do the setup process). After I got it initially paired, it took the ~90% range down to what I would say is 70%. The biggest issues I had were the device not showing up at all on cold-boot and the audio had what I would describe as "buffer" issues... There would be short, quick bursts of audio dropping out/popping. It was fairly passable, but it was immediately noticable because wired Carplay did not do this. On rare occasions it would get super strange where the connectivity was slow/erratic and so was the audio. Sometimes skipping a few tracks would clear it up, but other times it'd stay a garbled mess until I got annoyed and unplugged it.I tried tampering with the various settings behind the scenes to improve the usability. You can configure parameters (and update the firmware) by connecting your iPhone to Carplay and then navigating to 192.168.50.2 in Safari/Firefox/Chrome/whatever. I found that the "check for firmware updates" button sometimes requires a few taps to actually register that there is one available. (if it says "no updates available" just tap it a few more times and it may find one). After much tweaking, I landed on the following settings:Audio delay: 1250ms (higher number will cause more touch/screen delay, lower can cause audio issues)Boot delay: 10s (anything lower and the device would sometimes not get picked up during a cold start. Even with 10s, it sometimes still didn't get picked up)I ran the device for about 2 weeks and would wager it worked as-expected about 80% of the time with these tweaked settings, which honestly, was fine... I guess. But then it just stopped working. Completely dead.QC on something like this is probably not incredible so I wasn't particularly surprised... but when it came time to send it back I just opted for my money back. Not worth it, imo.

IT WORKS!!! 2018 Honda Accord EX-L, iPhone 12 Pro Max
Update... I ended up returning it. The connect time was a little long meaning you could not immediately start the car and, for example, set a navigation destination. But more important to me, the sound would periodically mute. When muted both the car and phone reported that everything was fine, including the song still playing. The only way I figured out to fix it was to switch the dash sound source to Bluetooth (the car would report no bluetooth available and switch back to CarPlay with the audio now working). I'm am guessing it is just a few more software updates before this problem is solved too, but I did check and I was running the latest version of that day, July 3, 2021).-----------------------------------------Why only 4 starts? Well the included USB cable failed in a few hours. Luckily my car's head unit suggested reseating it, which did not help, but hinted try another one. Mating it the first time is simple enough, but don't bother with the tiny printed instructions in poor English. Refer to the Amazon listing for clearer language and a larger font.Apple CarPlay is a little quirky on its own, but with my phone in pocket, and the dongle tucked deep in a dashboard cubby, there is some screen corruption (link data errors?) that is minor (and easily fixed by switching from and back to Google Maps). I've since moved the dongle and generally take my phone out anyway. So far no problems that way.The iPhone's own GPS gets a little flakey in my pocket. Occasionally my position is shown maybe a 100 feet off the road. The phone displays the same position if pulled out and checked directly. As others report I am often down the road a 100 yards before it finishes connecting CarPlay. Sometimes it connects more quickly. But I must say it is all pretty cool. I have the Honda's dash display to the left of the speedometer configured to the music playing, the main center dash display is CarPlay Google Maps, and the phone is on a MagSafe charging phone holder where a swipe up displays the native iPhone and all its distractions. On occasion my music stops playing and I am thinking I am fat fingering something when it happens, but I can (usually?) restart it easily enough going to the Music App in CarPlay. I need more time to figure this one out...Overall a very cool toy.

Drop outs
Using it in a wired connection Apple Carplay 2021 Lexus ES 300h.Like all things, there are good and bad features. The good is that right out of the box it worked beautifully. Unlike other users, I have not noticed any lag in using the features and functions of Carplay. The sound quality of the car appears unchanged. The bad is that every 10 minutes of driving it disconnects. At first, I thought it might be related to hitting a bump. But on a smooth stretch of highway over a 30-minute period it disconnected 3 times. It reconnected after about 30 seconds, with no input from me. Now on a familiar stretch of highway, this is just annoying. Now I see though, when I'm driving somewhere new, I would be well advised to connect my phone instead of this device. So I gotta ask the manufacturer, if s/he is monitoring these reviews what might be the solution?
