12 Days of Princess

My 3 1/2 year old is princess obsessed and every Christmas season, I wrap new Christmas books for my girls leading up to Christmas to read as a family. I knew she would love this book since it has Ariel, her favorite princess in it. The story is written to the song of "12 Days of Christmas" with a princess theme. For example, "On the 2nd day of Christmas a princess gave to me...2 glass slippers." The concept is cute - it's a bit choppy and doesn't flow as well as the song.I like that a variety of princesses are included (Belle, Cinderella, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Ariel, Snow White, and Aurora). Some princesses (Ariel, Belle, Tiana, and Cinderella) get two days within the story. Unfortunately, in doing that, they left out Jasmine and Mulan. Be aware of that in case that's your child's favorite princess. They could've taken one of Tiana's days for example and done a day for Jasmine. The illustrations are cute and you can identify who each princess is even though they don't look entirely like the movie characters. This book is cute and I know she'll really like it. I do think it would be improved by adding the missing princesses.

I am a little picky about books we put in front of our kiddos. There are so many good ones and yet so many meh ones that break through. I usually look books up to see if anyone has a read aloud for them and make my decision to order that way. I could not find one on this one, so I went with my gut, and I am so glad I did! My husband says when I show him... do we really need it? I say yes, yes love, yes we do! This one is sooooo perfect for princess lovers, which our girls are. We love the counting, memory, repetition, and that our girls can sing to the tune of the famous Christmas song we all learned as kiddos! Both of our girls have it memorized. They loved seeing all of the princesses with things from each movie that they loved too! Get it! If I saw it come through asking for a review and I did it... it is worth adding to your collection too! ENJOY reading with those amazing kids you are blessed to have! This is a good one!

Had no idea how this book would be but am pleasantly surprised. It’s adorable and love the illustrations. Didn’t post all pictures of book, so you can be surprised when you get it.

Bought this for a reluctant second-grade reader who loves princesses. She sat down and read through it immediately. As a teacher, I am constantly looking for books that match a student's interests and reading level. Too many words tend to discourage her, and I think this had enough words to exercise her decoding but enough illustrations to engage her. Perfect Christmas addition to a class library or a child's personal library.
