It's the best white gel pen available!
The Signo UM-153 is my favorite of all of the white gel and paint pens on the market. Heavy, smooth coverage on dark papers and on top of other types of pens/markers. It can even make nice raised "dots", In the photo, the Signo is on top of Gelly Roll Moonlight Gel pens. The barrel is bit wider than a standard ball point pen and it has a soft white silicone finger grip which makes it just dreamy to write with. The writing samples in the photos show what it looks like on the first pass. I was writing quickly and still there are hardly any lighter areas or skips in the lines. This seller had the best price on Amazon at the time but I did end up with one of the 3 pens in the set malfunctioning and going dry right away. The white ink is half streaked up the barrel of the far left and it does not write. The other two pens work beautifully. However, one of them has noticably less ink in it than the others did. These seem to be issues with the quality control at the sellers level rather than the quality of the pen. This is the reason I only gave 4 stars to the value for the money rating. The other white Signo UM-153's I've owned have lasted a very long time and came with uniform levels of ink. It has a 1.0 mm conical pen tip. It does have a very broad line for a typical gel pen which accounts for some of its smoothness and opaque coverage. My writing sample in the photo is in a bullet journal with standard sized 5mm dot grid. I highly recommend this pen for projects that require a smooth, opaque, bright white line.

good opaque white pen and marker for art
I bought these because I follow artists on YouTube and saw they were using to add highlighting to their work. I really like the black version of the gel-hybrid pen, so I was excited to buy it due to glowing reviews. One video a person compared different white pens and markers to see which was the best and even tho the Uni-ball Signo pen was very opaque, the Posca Paint Marker Pen was the winner, so I bought this set to try both for myself. I am happy getting both as I found that sometimes the paint marker doesn't write as smoothly on some pieces of paper. While the Signo gel-hybrid pen is a very good opaque white gel pen, I did see usually the Posca pen was more opaque. When testing these out with alcohol-based markers (I own Ohuhu, but Copic is a nother brand), the color from the marker will blend with the gel pen, which it doesn't usually do it paint marker. At first I was disappointed that the gel pen was blending with the marker color, but then I realized I can use that to my advantage in art. I like to use the paint markers if I want a clearly white highlight in my art and if I want a lighter highlight, but not bright white, I would use the gel pen. I did test out my Ohuhu markers with this pen set on a Canson XL mixed media sketchbook, and they both blended with the markers! So I guess test them out and see if you like them as they perform differently on different types of paper. Sometimes the gel pen is a brighter white, sometimes the paint marker. Sometimes it is difficult to write with the nibs on the type of paper. I find generally if you can lay on a couple layers of these pens or a thick layer, you can get it to be bright white.

Posca + Signo = 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What’s not to love?? I have been a Signo user for over a decade. When you need a white highlight on any paper surface, over marker or on dark paper, these white pens give you a *white* line, fluid and without fail. Not a blob. Not a skip. No doubt.I recently got turned on to Posca pens too. Bought a full color set in a medium point for mark making on acrylic and ink mixed media. LOVE!! Colors true and strong, can also be blended with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Smooth, fluid, no messing up the final touches on your masterpieces. I find myself liking the white pens the most for adding details on my brightly colored work. I decided that I really wanted a fine line white Posca to work with, and found this awesome “combo” set- and what a great price!! My local art supply store sells one Posca for $4. I’m in highlight mark making heaven!!I added a quick pic of my new Posca on top of alcohol inks on yupo. Just messing around with supplies but I am so excited about pulling some prints on the Gelli, layering color and mark making in my very near future. The picture I posted is actually alcohol ink markers blended with isopropyl, and the Posca lays down perfectly on top. IMHO you can’t go wrong with Uni pens. They are my favorite go to brand.

Paint pen leaks
The gel pens work perfectly fine, but the paint pens on the other hand is not good. You have to shake the posca pen to mix up the paint inside in order to get an even coat but it leaks. If you shake the posca pen without the lid on, the paint splatters everywhere. When you shake the posca pen with the lid on, the paint doesn't splatter everywhere but it gets all over the cap on the insides. If you shook the pen vigorously in hoping that you can cut down the prep time for this pen then OHMYGAWD, when you remove the cap you can expect paint to run down the sides of the pen. All in all, the posca pen and the gel pens work pretty good, I just wished that the posca pens would not leak the way it did.

Posca Paint Pens are Awesome
For anyone needing to write on black paper or dark cardstock or even neon colored paper, the white Posca pen is perfect. So perfect that I purchased a set of 7 with red, green, yellow, black, white, pink, baby blue and royal blue. They are perfection! I use them to write on the black and colored(neons mostly) pages of my planner!

What a way to turn my opinions about white in a pen~
One of the Posca was dried up but the rest were great. I was so sceptical that these would work. I have been enjoying pen coloring of my originals as well as coloring books for adults and truthfully, kids as well, for about five years now. My opinion of white gel or paint has been so sour that when I buy a new set of pens I up and give them one strike. If they don't produce a line, they get put aside forever. I can't bring myself to pitching them for the most part. I figure there is an answer for them out there.SO, These ROCKED! I checked them all except the one without wrapping. It was dry so make note. However, I did swatches from gel pen to permanent marker and even used them on sculpture and feathers. I am in love. LOVE I tell you. I expect my husband to notice! LOLPosca, do you guys want an apprentice?
