It comes out dull looking. Don’t think I’d try it **Q: Can this be used on stainless steel?** A: This gold solution will work for applying gold onto stainless steel and really any kind of steel. Tool steel, carbon steel, cold rolled steel, doesn't really matter. However, the item must be properly prepared with other electroplating chemicals prior to applying the gold. Please let us know if this doesn't answer your question. **Q: Can I plate a copper coin with this solution and how do I prepare the surface to be plated?** A: This is an electroplating solution that requires proper equipment to work properly. The gold will resemble or mirror the finish it is being plated onto. We recommend doing any pre polishing and them thoroughly clean the surface of any corrosion, polishing compounds, etc. once that is completed. We recommend a 3 step process which includes electro clean surface activator then the gold. We have lots of videos on YouTube that can walk you through the process or a customer team you can reach out to. **Q: Can this be used on cutlery?** A: With the proper preparation, you can gold plate cutlery made of stainless steel or silver. The solution requires electroplating equipment, this solution itself will not plate onto anything. If you have the correct equipment, you will need the preparation chemicals as well for that specific metal. Such as, you need Electrocleaner and Woods Nickel Strike to be applied prior to gold plating Stainless Steel. Silver can be plated directly onto, however we recommend Electroplating and Activating with Surface Activator before gold plating.
