What are the measurements?

The Huggaroo neck wrap is ergonomically-shaped and sculpted to the outline of the neck and shoulders. By hugging the neck and shoulders, it delivers moist, soothing, penetrating heat right where it is most needed. If you were to flatten and straighten the wrap, it measures 24 inches from side to side, 10.5 inches front to back, and up to 1.5 inches in thickness. The neck portion is up to 4.5 inches tall in the midline and gradually tapers off toward the sides. The Huggaroo wrap weighs 3.5 lb. It is very well crafted - it feels substantial and sturdy, yet super plush and luxurious. Oh, and the herbs we've put inside it smell wonderful.

Question 2

The instructions say to place the pad on a plate and not directly onto the microwave's glass carousel.  why?

Hi Tina.

You should never place the wrap directly on the glass carousel. If the fabric comes in contact with any oil left behind in your microwave (from cooking popcorn, for example), the soiled spot would heat up to a much greater degree than the rest of the wrap and the fabric would burn. That is the cause of the vast majority of fabric burns in this kind of product. For this reason, we recommend that you use a clean, dry plate every time you heat the wrap. You should also have the carousel on and make sure that the wrap is not brushing against the walls or ceiling of your microwave while spinning. I hope this clarifies the reason behind our instructions.

Is this good for cooling?

Hi Jodi.

Our wrap is designed to be used as a hot wrap. This is where it really shines. It provides deep, penetrating heat and subtle aromatherapy every time it is microwaved. Yes, you may cool it in the freezer and use it as a cool wrap. However, please know that it won't stay cold for very long. You may be able to get about 5 minutes of cold/cool therapy and then you would have to place it in the freezer again. If you are looking for a wrap to use primarily for cold therapy, there are better options out there; cooling requires a different design in order to maintain the cold longer. If you'd like to use it as a cold wrap, we recommend placing the wrap in a large ziplock bag (to keep it clean and to prevent it from absorbing freezer odors) and keeping it in the freezer for at least an hour prior to use.

How long will this stay hot?

Hello Gerard.

Thank you for your question.  The Huggaroo Neck and Shoulder Wrap will stay hot and soothing for about 10-15 minutes, if heated in your microwave for 2 minutes.  If you want it hotter for a little longer, you can heat it an additional 30 seconds.  I like mine super hot, so I heat it for 2 1/2 minutes.

Please note that the heating times also depend on the power setting up your microwave oven. The two minute heating time recommendation is based on a 1200 W oven. We chose it as a starting point because it is a safe and reasonable heating time for all consumer microwave ovens, regardless of their power. You can do a bit of experimentation on your personal microwave oven to discover the optimal time for you. Please note that we do not recommend heating the wrap for more than two minutes initially because if the wrap is overheated, the fabric may get damaged. After the initial two minutes, you may heat the wrap more in 30 second increments to your desired temperature.
