I forgot how good it was...
About six or eight years ago, I began my foray into 3D printing with a new Flashforge Finder 3D printer. To keep the printer running clean, I stuck with Flashforge's filament for a short time, until curiosity of other brands and irritation at Flashforge's higher prices made me try other brands. I never bought another spool of Flashforge's filament and never really looked back.During summer Prime Day this year (2022), this filament went on sale. Flashforge had sent me a promotional email about this filament and two other new filaments, but I'd largely disregarded it. My curiosity, compounded by a friend's urging to buy a spool to try it (I was printing various parts for said friend's hobby at the time), made me buy a few spools of this.I've used most of one up, and I am impressed! Over the years, I've stuck with 3D Solutech as my brand of choice but have had good experience with others such as eSun, YOYI, and Hatchbox to name a few.I've got four 3D printers: A Flashforge Creator Pro, a JGAurora A5S, an Artillery Sidewinder X1, and a BIBO that's on its last legs. I've run this filament on the A5S, the Creator Pro, and the Sidewinder X1. The A5S has a 0.8 mm nozzle and the X1 has a 1.0 mm nozzle. The A5S has seen the most runtime of my current farm of printers so as expected, this filament ran fine. The filament also ran fine on the Creator Pro. Lately, I've been trying to print larger objects on the X1 at 0.100 mm layer heights. This requires frequent slicer profile tuning from spool to spool of filament. And that is where this filament thoroughly impressed me! I have not had to toy with slicer settings at all, and every single print I've ran with this filament on the X1 has turned out beautifully! The sparkly appearance of the filament further reduces the appearance of layer lines, too!I've been airbrushing a lot of my prints lately, but I am not going to paint any of the prints I've made with this filament; It just looks too good to cover up! But I digress.Normally, I try to specify certain settings in my reviews such as nozzle temp, print speed, etc. but that's the beauty of this filament, and the main nuance I'm highlighting in my story above:I have never had to dial this filament in!Just use general PLA settings in your slicer, and I bet you'll get excellent prints like I've been getting! And that's what brings me back to my review title: Back when I only bought Flashforge's filament, I never had issues, and I only ever used preset slicer settings. So, I guess this filament falls into the old saying "You get what you pay for."Yeah, it'll cost more, but this filament is pointedly more stable than any other brand I've used thus far, and that includes my main go-to brand! While I don't intend on only getting Flashforge's filament from here on out, I'll definitely be getting more of this filament for prints that will be tricky to pull off!

Galaxy Black, great on .8mm nozzle
0.4mm nozzles were clogging for me on 3 tries and were tough to unclog. 0.8mm worked out fine, but definitely one of the bad smelling filaments when melted unlike other pleasant ones (odd thing that you may not care about, and I don't mind either). I don't have a 0.6mm nozzle so I can't speak on that. Overall, this is an average filament that looks better than plain black.I was harsh on my original review because it is useless for me on 0.4mm, which I was typically running.ORIGINAL REVIEW (before trying 0.8mm nozzle):I don't see Galaxy Black listed anymore at the time of writing this, so maybe it was removed because of bad quality. I'd love a refund, but prob not worth the effort. See other reviews about Galaxy Black for similar experiences. I bought two spools and both just clog my 0.4mm nozzles and stick like tar to the inside of the nozzle unlike other filaments at the same 210-220 temp range. PITA experience trying to unclog and rebuild extruder each time. I will probably try it with a .6mm nozzle to at least make use of it on something, but it's my least favorite and worst experience filament to date, out of 6 or so other brands.

Dimensional Accuracy not within tolerance for my machine to extrude properly. Purchased JAN2020
The green color of this filament is superb however, the size of the filament I purchased 13JAN2020 is +-.05mm dimensional accuracy, which is a .1mm allowance. This filament is too small and causes my extruder gears to slip and not pull the filament through.**Pay close attention to the dimensional accuracy, the current accuracy is +-.02mm as of 28MAR2023****The dimensional accuracy was +-.05mm dated on JAN2020**

Good strong ABS filament
This filament printed fine, I used it on simple things and it was just fine, used it on a somewhat durable need part and it has been fine. I printed a tighter tolerance part and it had issues, from stretching to being to sheer in places. I've printed same part before without issue but not sure why it came out that way. Everything else was awesome. I still recommend it, but just keep an eye on those type parts

Quality
So, I buy many things on Amazon and I usually don't comment because I feel bad but I am usually too busy to write reviews. However, this review was a must to share with 3d printing enthusiasts like myself. I've used many brands of PLA and I like pretty much all of them but always asked myself, I can't wait for the 3d printing technology to get a little better so I can print store bought like 3d models. This filament from Flashforge changed my mind, it is almost perfect! Truly the best quality PLA I've ever used! I also must comment on Flashforge Printers (Guider II and Guider II2), they are also amazing, I have a Creality S5 and I hate everything about Creality machines! GOING WITH FLASHFORGE HERE ON OUT!

Exceeds expectations
At 0.2 layer height, lines are barely noticeable. The sheen is magnificent. I will definitely be buying more of the Burnt Titanium and other colors from this manufacturer.

Pretty Color - Mostly Black and Blue Though
This filament is pretty, but it is definitely more of a black with blue glitter in it, then the burnt titanium color. It’s really hard to get the purple sheen out of it.Prints fine and all that, but 4/5 for color

The color is misleading
So that's definitely NOT the color received. I got white and blue instead of this color I ordered. Is what it is. This was for the hubby for Christmas and he loves his new toy. Prints nice. Seems sturdy. Printed a 3d model of middle earth for a science project.

A nice change from pure black
After finishing off a roll of another brand's Black I was looking for something a little different but also, not, brightly coloured. That's when the Flashforge sparkly black filament caught my eye.I'm relatively new to 3d printing so far having printed with 'printer's PLA tester orange', a well known brand's black + white, and a lesser known brand's translucent PETG yellow. All the PLA printed fairly well but the PETG was a disaster. After finishing off my last brand roll, I switched over to the FF Galaxy Black. I reviewed the heating instructions and noted it had a melting point of 50c and lower end range of 190c (slightly lower than the other brand PLA I was using before). So I tweaked my slicer settings and put the new filament in my curer for 5 hours at 45c to ensure there was no residual moisture going to affect print quality.Immediately it started stringing and wouldn't stick and panic struck. Why was PLA going wrong when I'd had no problems with my other rolls mere minutes earlier??I immediately knocked my Z down 0.1mm and tried the same print again, voila, problem solved. That's a first!Normally it takes me ages of faffing, with this filament, 1 print and I've then had zero problems with subsequent prints.I showed my other half, my first print and the reaction was "ooh that looks nice, it's sparkles!" which is amazing given it was a kitchen towel for an Ikea rod I grabbed from thing verse which I'd printed (pictures attached of two different varieties, neither matched what I needed, so I am still working on it in Fusion360, will re-upload once I'm happy with it).So first impressions are very good, both from me, and a non-3d printer person. Very easy to dial in. Good adhesion. Can't comment on 'sheerness' amazon, it's a black filament?!I did read on a group somewhere that 'sparkly' filament can cause issues with the hot end or something so maybe something to be aware of and keep an eye out on, if you run lots of rolls of this kind of filament, perhaps? But no problems for me thus far, from the 4-5 prints I've done so far.Would I recommend this to a friend?YesWould I buy this again?YesAnything else to add? It'd be cool to have a white or cream with sparkly silver bits in it, like the newer marble counter tops you see. Get on it, Flashforge R&D team!

Rainbow colours are very slow to change 🙁
This filament printed beautifully. But the colour changes were very slow - in fact my first 4 prints were all a dull red, which wasn’t at all what I wanted. The colours are very dull too. I’m not going to return it as the filament will be useful for trying out new designs, but it wasn’t what I was after, and is not how it looks in the sales pictures

Beautiful colour changing, reliable and strong filament.
My first time trying Flashforge filament. This is my favourite colour changing filament so far. Zero adhesion problems, and prints cleanly with very little trace of layer lines. The colours are bold bold and beautiful. Will definitely be trying more of Flashforge's filaments. One word of advice - definitely calibrate flow / extrusion multiplier for the filament. It calibrates to a surprisingly low flow rate for PLA. This isn't a problem though - it just means that you'll get more prints from a reel. I definitely recommend this filament.

Blocks the heat nozzle
Used many wood filaments before. This one constantly blocked my nozzle at 230C. Will try it again at a much lower temperature once i have run a few print batches through it will regular PLA. As i could actually smell this filament while printing . Unlike other filaments i print at that temperature.

Not as tangle free as they say
We bought this for our son to use with his 3D printer, and like a previous review mentioned the colours take a very long time to change which is unlike the initial picture shown. Plus the filament does snag at points leaving a half printed item as it hasn't been able to pull down from the reel smoothly and is tangled. We have tried to find how to contact the seller about this issue but can't find their details anywhere on their page or the listing page. We will be returning it and trying a different manufacturer as sadly this reel wasn't the one for us.
