Great Amplifier for whole home music system.
This is great so far. I purchased this because of the flexibility it provides for the future of my whole home music system. I'll update as I own it longer, but just got it and am testing it out. The amp weighs in at about 40 lbs, so make sure you have a good place for it. It fires up with no problem. The phoenix connectors make a very secure connection and ease of installation since you can pop them out to terminate the wire and then pop back in to connect to the amp. The sound is good out of my speakers. They have more power than with my previous configuration. I'm very pleased so far. I have a Sonos Connect plugged into the bus input and will probably expand in the future with more Connects as I need them. I will try to keep an eye on the auto function as I've heard of it failing prematurely. So far it worked fine. I will be testing out the standby power draw to confirm that it is going to sleep when nothing is plugged in.

Surprisingly Fantastic - Multi-room Work Horse
Not an audio/video expert nor a home theater expert, but I would rate myself above a novice. After extensive researching from reading several articles regarding multi-room setups, equipment, and wiring, I found this little gem. Expect everything from a 1240 but more with extra I listed below: It is really heavy - 40 lbs. nearly the same as the 1240 This unit is cooled passively through heat sinks (no fans). It only gets warm at best so longevity can be expected since there isn't heat degradation. Not really a big fan of Phoenix connection. Prefer banana plugs. Not sure with this whole gauge being at least 12 or 14 if you are running wires greater than 100 feet. I have wires that run approximately 125 feet and 16 gauge does fine. The resistance doesn’t seem to be an issue and the amplifier doesn’t think so either. Also wouldn’t think a 12 gauge would even fit. There isn't an issue with the music being distorted and the music is awfully loud that I don’t dare going to the maximum on the volume control with 60% on the TX-8050. Overall, this power amplifier is all you need for a multi-room. Don’t spend any more for power amplifier as this is more than adequate for just having your rooms blasted with music. Again this review is for multi-room purposes. Setup: TX-8050 powering - [Channel A] (3) Polk Audio RC60i 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers and [Channel B] (4) Polk Audio Atrium 4 Speakers. PREOUT -> Powering (12) Polk Audio RC60i 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers by 16 gauge 4 wire conductor with each pair running into a wall control volume.

Disposable unit. Don't rely on the warranty.....
Worked well while it lasted (5 months). The unit showed a fault in one zone. Sent the unit back, was told that it was due to a lightning strike. The unit was connected to a surge protector along with the other 3 amps and devices. Customer service felt that surge protectors would not help because this was a caused be an antenna affect from the speaker wires back toward the unit. Maybe in theory this could happen. There are a few descriptions of this on the web, however those scenarios report multi- unit failures. I'm not sure why the other amps connected to the other 11 zones in the house were not at all impacted including 3 outdoor ceiling zones. IMO, this seems like a great explanation to avoid warranty claims. was told the whole amp is too costly to repair. Needless to say, I'm disappointed and would causing buyers. This apparently is a disposable unit. Spend the extra money on a quality unit like russound. My russound units seemed were not phased by the antenna affect.

Solid amp that does what is expected. My only ...
Solid amp that does what is expected. My only critique is that the connections could be upgraded to banana links so attaching the speaker wires were easier/more secure.

Well-built, cost-effective, nice features
This is powering a whole-house sound system, so sound quality isn't exactly primary concern; however, it's driving a couple of Pyramids in the living room, and it sounds just fine. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has an auto-sensor and auto-shut-off setting; this allows me to hook the amp up to an odroid and play music without having to either leave the amp on 24/7, fuss with manually turning it on/off, or figure out how to hook up the media server to the 12V power trigger. The amp shuts off after 15 seconds (? -- ish) of silence, and turns itself on a few seconds after it senses signal on the audio source. I had a trio of cheaper, 4-zone amps which had altogether cost me as much as this amp; two of them simply stopped working over time -- this amp is a much better value for the same money.

Excellent multi zone amplifier!
This is a great class D amplifier! Very efficient and high quality sound! No fans so no disturbing noises in the living room. Using it with Polk RC60i speakers in multiple rooms and a Sonos Connect. My wife loves the setup and the sound quality. Each zone has shortage detection capability displayed with a front panel led. After chatting with customer service, I learnt that you can even connect two 8 ohms speaker to one zone since zones are rated for 4ohms... Highly recommended!

Awesome AMP.
I couldn't be happier with this 12 channel amp. I use this in conjunction with my Sonos Connect. The system works flawlessly with the Sonos. The amp's low wattage sensor detects signal from the Sonos which turns the amp on. When on, the amp generates little heat. Awesome. The sound is crisp through my in-ceiling speakers. I've had this system since Fall of 2016, and have not had an issue. I love this amp!

Heat and Input Volume Shutoff
I have a Sonos Connect then mini-Dsp 2x4 driving the amp into 3 sets of ceiling speakers. (Only use those 3 channels L&R). I have a heart sensing fan on top to dissipate heat. The amp randomly turns off when it is between 92-100 degrees radiating from the surface and also when there is a very quiet section of music playing through it. (I can't leave it on all the time or it would be baking.) if there is a solution, I'm happy to hear it, but not thrilled. Just didn't want to pay $1000+ for something like a Marantz, etc.

Great value for money and works as described. The only way this amp could be better is if the automatic signal sensing switched the amp on at a slightly lower volume but that is a very minor thing.

Returned the product and have not received the refund for over 6 months. This is absolutely horrible service.
