Hi- It came on time and works. I can hear the whistle myself, which I knew I would from other reviews. But I gotta say, the instructions are confusing ("Once you have a frequency that works for your dog"....??? How do I know? Just because she looks up?? Well, everybody can hear it...and it required my dear friend who is a flute player to know that you have to screw the end parts in two different directions to lock it in place....), and the seemingly very handy holder attached to the lanyard screws (literally unscrews) the setting every time you put it on. I'm sorry, I would like to leave a better review. I think without the cover, and with better instructions it might be a very good piece of equipment.

Ok, so it's only been two days of trying to make my neighbor's dog stop barking and howling for the entire time she is out of the house. I think it seems to be working though. I followed the simple directions for finding the pitch to get his attention and boy did I know! His head snapped right around to me when it was right!When he first began his barking, I blew the whistle and followed it with a firm "Quiet!" Every time he howled or barked, I repeated the procedure. I almost think he has been whistle trainer before because he responded so quickly. Today I "think" he's testing me to see if I'm in my house because as soon as I blow the whistle, he stops even without the quiet command. It would be great if I can eventually stop having to do this and just get on with my life and not have to train my neighbor's dog. She might consider whether she really wants to be a dog owner considering the number of hours she doesn't spend with him.

As whistle it works just fine as a regular old whistle, but for a dog whistle no. It's extremely loud iv adjusted it many times get the same exact sound. I wanted a refund but the closest ups is an hour away and the closest drop off is 30 minutes. Basically waste of gas and not even worth it.

The whistle itself is great, and we found it effective for calling our dog. However, we did have 2 issues with it: The minor issue is that the mechanism to lock the selected frequency in place does not seem to do a very good job. I found that it had often slipped, and I'd have to readjust to the desired frequency. The bigger issue is that the whistle did not stay securely in it's holder, and I ended up losing the whistle when it shook loose out of it's holder during a run. If you're aware of this possibility, you can hold on to the whistle or keep it in your pocket while running.

You definitely need to tweak the setting. Be sure to blow on it correctly- I was accidentally covering the slit where the air comes out. It’s super close to the top. It works on my older dogs but it’s for my puppy and he only found it amusing the first few uses and now ignores it.
