You Can't Take It with You: A Comedy in Three Acts (Acting Edition for Theater Productions) Paperback – January 1, 1998

I bought this to read before an audition and I ended up getting cast as Essie! It’s a fun read, arrived fast and wasn’t too messed up from the previous owner.

This play is quite funny, and has recently been revived on Broadway (2014) with James Earl Jones and other talented folks in the roles.Our community theater group is putting this on, and this play has so many good roles, it was actually hard to find actors for all the parts.It's a period piece, written in the 1930s before WWII, so the historical references and points of view of some characters will seem out-of-step with the 21st century. But some of their thoughts -- to pursue happiness, and not sacrifice yourself for empty accomplishments -- still ring true, along with plenty of laughter... and fireworks!

Just about every production of this play changes a lot of lines.I had to buy the script to find out what Hart and Kaufman had intended.Well worth the purchase.

This charming comedy is really quite brilliant. No wonder it's still part of the repertoire of community theatre groups today.

Enjoyed revisiting this comedy. Copy was very readable, and I had great fun catching up with the eccentric characters described in this play.
