Just buy this now -I almost never need to pull out or set up my torque wrench now

*by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2014*

Everyone who wrenches on their own bike should buy one of these. They are cheap and good insurance against over/under-tightening their bike fasteners. 5NM is about perfect for almost every small bolt on a bicycle from teh seatpost to stem/handlebar bolts. If you have carbon parts or a carbon frame this tool will pay for itself almost immediately since you never have to worry about crushing a carbon seatpost, handlebar, or steer tube and ruining an expensive part. You don't need to worry about under-tightening a part that will come lose on you in a middle of a long ride, or stripping/deforming the threads of a fastener which will cause it to come lose as well if you over-tighten it.5NM is a LOT more than you think it is with a tiny handle like this so don't juts assume this tool is broke if you don't feel a click. You have to turn it a lot harder than you think to get to the setpoint for this tool to activate, telling you it is the right torque value.I see in other reviews that people think their torque key is defective since it won't click. You just have to turn it harder. I've tested mine against my calibration tool and while it seems like it too much, the gauge tells me it is right on at 5nm.Look at the Park Tools webpage for a handy chart on torque values to see how many fasteners on your bike are at or near 5NM for a torque value.Pros:Quick and easy for all the fasteners on your bike that are 5NMComes with 4 bits to fit different size allen heads and torx.Cons:It takes a lot of hand strength (or two hands) to get to 5NM with such a tiny handle.Only does 5NM so it isn't adjustable. It's a tiny tool but isn't good for all bike torqueing jobs. You still should have a 1/4" and a 3/8" click or spar-type torque wrench if you do a lot of working on bikes. But this tool is handy to have next to your T-handle set for quick/easy/accurate torquing of the fasteners that a bike owner/mechanic needs to use the most.

Must have tool for carbon forks or seat post

*by T***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2014*

I thought I knew what 5 Nm was and didn't need this tool. Wrong! After reading stories of peoples carbon forks and seat posts breaking due to over tightening, I decided to invest a few bucks into this tool as it is cheap insurance to have in case your bike manufacturer denies you warranty coverage due to "abuse" (over torquing a part).I figured I could accurately gauge what 5Nm is and when I finally got this tool I realized just how wrong I was. I wasn't even close and my forks were dangerously loose and could have given out had I had to make a high speed emergency turn as over tightening could break all carbon forks and void your bike warranty. My seat post was too tight -which can fracture and break the seat post over time... Torque wrenches this small are hard to find and your options are very limited. This cheap tool works great and easily stores in my saddle bag and is very light weight.Idiot proof. Twist it until it starts clicking -then you know it has reached the max -5Nm -which is the exact torque requirement of my fork and seat post. Money well spent. Thanks Ritchey and Amazon for a great tool at a great price!

Tighten carbon fiber bike parts without worry!

*by M***L on Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2014*

After purchasing my first ever all carbon Cervelo R3 road bike, I was having a heck of a time adjusting the saddle height without it slipping because I didn't want to over tighten the seatpost clamp. Although I was able to find the correct bike fit, the seatpost caused creaking in any movement of the frame. The creak was partly caused by the local bike shop not using any carbon fiber assembly paste/gel. But at the same time, I was super nervous about tightening the seatpost clamp which Cervelo recommended between 4Nm and 5Nm of torque. This hand little tool eased my fears and worked perfectly. The handle is a little small, but this is probably needed to be able to fit around the saddle angles. Between this and the Finish Line. Fiber Grip Gel, my bike is now creak free.
