I bought this for my new libre 3 reader since it reads continuously! Do not have to open the case. The case gives the reader protection and the silicone keeps it from sliding out of pockets. It fits reader great .

I purchased this cover because I kept dropping my Freestyle Libre 2 reader/monitor, scratching the screen and I was concerned that it would get damaged beyond functioning. At a cost of almost $400, I was not prepared to buy a replacement, either. This cover fit the Abbott monitor perfectly and protects it from inadvertent drops.My one negative (if you can call it a negative) is that the soft silicone also absorbs some of the vibration notifications emitted by the reader/monitor. When I get occupied throughout the day, I don't always feel the vibration in my pant pockets, and for someone who gets hypoglycemic, those alerts can be critical. But the good far outweighs any negative; I'm sure I would have a damaged, non-working monitor by now if not for this case. It does its job, and I would definitely recommend it.
