Emerald 601MS Medium Soft Oboe Reed

Well, it's not a professionally made reed, but it does the job for a student. Easy to blow, which helps them build up their endurance. And affordable, too!

The media could not be loaded.  My daughter is learning the obo this year. I bought this for her to practice with before I spent more money on a nicer one. We don’t have experience with reeds but it’s working for her first time trying out the instrument.

I've been using this brand of reeds for years on oboe, bassoon, saxophone and clarinet. They are good standards and offer reasonable sound quality and durability for the price. I don't play for a symphony or anything, so my sound is my own. But these are great reeds that have never let me down.

We've been buying these Emerald Reeds for over a year now. The first several we purchased we were really happy with. They had a great tone and were perfect for my daughter. The last few reeds we have ordered have been really flat and borderline unusable. My daughter does not yet possess the skillset needed to fix the reeds on her own and most band directors are not knowledgable when it comes to double reeds, so we've had to keep replacing them.

The reeds were not even close to being aligned correctly, so it's completely useless.

Fast shipping and exactly as described. I am only rating as I did because we had purchased in hopes that it might help my son who is learning the Oboe as some of the comments said it did with their children but he says its extremely hard to use and to get sound from. Were going back to our Jones reed.
