Almost perfect
My teenager is a red belt in MMA, and recently he suffered a pretty bad hematoma on his inner calf. He was using some clunky shin guards from another well-known manufacturer ... solidly made, but unfortunately they were kicked out of position and his inner calf was hurt pretty bad. Those guards had two fold over straps that rotated on him, allowing his calf to be exposed. I was going to go with the 'stay put' sock-type guards, but the coach felt they wouldn't provide enough protection for Muay Thai and kickboxing. What zeroed me in on these RDX guards is the extra hook/loop strap mid calf. This combined with the fold over straps really keeps them in place on his thighs. The only gripe I have, and why I docked a star, is with the instep strap. It is too wide, front to back ... at least for him. While the instep guard completely protects his instep and toes, the toes tend to slip out because they do not overlap the front of the strap. If MTX moved that back a couple inches, it would allow the strap to be better positioned in his arch.I understand this is a tough thing to design for, given everyone has different feet. My solution was to simply cut back the strap to the point where enough of his foot overlapped it. That really turned it into a completely different set of shin guards for him. They held strong to both the calf and the instep, and even gave him a confidence boost. Hopefully my alteration doesn't wear them out too soon, but I hope for others that RDX takes a look at that component and can make the strap narrower, and move it back a little more.

My calves are too big
The material seems great and they seem like a good product however there are 3 straps on the back. The top and bottom work great but the middle strap is an elastic band that velcro's and it is just too tight around my calf. I am average height, 5'10" 185lbs but I have large calves and they were just too tight. I will have to leave the middle unstrapped. I wish there was a better adjustment.

👍🏽
The sizing is a bit awkward as others have mentioned, but if you need a hard-shell shingaurd on a budget; these get the job done.

Awesome!!
Most shin guards move around when you kick and you’re constantly having to readjust them, but these stay in place and have great padding! I love the all black look and would definitely recommend.

Uncomfortable seems between shin and foot
These would be better if they didnt have that huge seem between the top of the foot and the shin. It’s so unnecessary and it digs soo badly into your leg/foot. Also, the middle strap is weird and has two stickies to hold the strap but those scrape you if you have bigger calves and the strap doesnt reach all the way.

Doesn't stay directed forward on shin
If you have to wear shoes to use this, the foot guard thing just gets in the way and is difficult to put around shoes. The shin guard turns to the side after a few minutes of practicing kicks. I'm a complete novice to training my kicks, but I am a large guy and have strong legs, so I don't know if that's specific to me or not.

Good protection, but was sent a factory defect
Overall, the shin guards look solid and feels like they offer great protection. However I do feel like I was sent a factory defect shin guard, The stitching on one of the insteps came apart after like 15 mins of very light use, and it wasn't even a sparring or kicking punching bag, it was just practice of kicking techniques. But the other one is still good.

Perfect
Really pleased with the shinguards so far, I use them at least twice a week and they are comfortable. Materials seem good and they are well made, I just give them a good wipe after training and let them dry.

great fit, good quality, low price.
quality was better than expected, not a super thick shin pad but sufficient for light sparing and heavy bag work (not ideal for hard shin on shin contact). pads do not slip or shift while sparing, wide elastic foot strap is located under balls of your feet which is less than ideal but overall a great entry level product.

Ordered these for my son as he does Muay Thai.He was really happy with the comfort and fit of the RDX shin guards. We have brought boxing gloves also in the past which both have been great quality!Would recommend the Brand, quality and service from this company!

Subpar stitching
Bought these for sparring and on the first evening of use the stitching blew on the foot protection portion leaving a floppy pad resting on my foot. It wasn't at all what I expected given the visual quality of the pads. I've since reinforced the stitching all the way around on both pads, but that shouldn't have been necessary. On a positive note these pads are robust, hold in place well, and otherwise perform their intended purpose. Would I recommend them? For now my answer is not really.
