Ok, so I often get colder than everyone else in the car. I wanted a compact blanket I could keep in my bag so I had it available whenever. This blanket fit the bill and totally works for what I need it to. It was great on the plane and when I got stuck in the airport when a snow storm grounded planes for a couple hours. Because it's so lightweight you don't mind packing it, which means it's available when you need it. I've not tried it in the outdoors, but I'd likely add it to my sleeping bag or use it with my cloths as an extra layer.

This was a blessing for my dad when cold in hospital, kept me warm when camping in bitterly cold weather, and also excellent for warmth when trying to reduce heating costs…though not cheap to start with. There is a synthetic version too for a little less.

The down puffy blanket is well made and does indeed pack down quite small. It doesn't loft quite as much as I expected - the advertising photos make it look a lot more puffy than mine turned out to be. It's also very slippery and has a habit of sliding out of position during the night. I feel it needs another few hundred grams of down to make it worthwhile.
