Amazing virtual drumming!
I’ve been learning drumming for just under a year. I wanted something quiet, highly portable and compact that I could take with me when away in our caravan, and that I could play later at night or early morning at home. At first I was attracted to the Bluetooth drumsticks option as it looked so simple. But they were very poor (see my review of AeroBands). The camera/light/computer requirements of AeroDrums initially put me off, but after watching many excellent user videos, I gave them a go. And they are amazing!!It took me a few sessions to get used to the technique and drum positioning, and I still have a way to go with them, but they are great fun to play. The samples are high quality, and the user interface is fairly intuitive. There’s a User Forum with loads of advice, which is reassuring given there are many other happy AeroDrummers out there. So don’t be put off, they really work!

Amazing if you are not a drummer
I am myself a drummer, I have been playing drums not consistently for many years but I do know a thing or two about drums. This is great if you are still a beginner or someone who loves music and wanting a drum set but not able for different reasons (space, noise, money) and is very much fun to play with as it gives you different drum and cymbal choices (not too many) and it lets you choose wherever you want to put them. It is not so great for a drummer in my personal opinion as many times the hits are not very accurate (especially on the hi-hats or crashes) therefore you will be missing the emotions from real drumming and feel a bit disappointed sometimes.I really hope for an upgrade of this product in the next years as I believe it can be the future for young drummers.

A big step on from air guitar!
Really fun.Need to follow the instructions carefully to make sure your hands and feet are in the correct positions relative to the (not supplied) camera. A bit like setting up your position in a passport booth. And you do need to be in front of a dull non-reflective background too. Also the camera LEDs are bright, which is why sunglasses are included in the kit!But it is all worth it. Hitting invisible drums in mid-air is not as difficult as it sounds, since you can see them on your PC screen.Best to start with a small kit first, otherwise you can easily hit the wrong cymbals.

Like a real drum without bounce
Also if they are lacking of bounce like a real drum, the sound quality of the included samples is impressive. There also two replacement reflective "caps" and some glue to put them on the drumsticks.Bear in mind you probably need a good computer or an external ASIO soundboard for better experience and less lag, but if not you'll have to lower the settings a bit!

Exactly as I expected
Loads of people complaining about this product but its exactly what I expected. Its a small company guys, yes its handmade, of course it is! you are paying for the software mainly and it does a good job. I have used these cameras for other tracking purposes and trust me its not easy developing for these cameras especially on mac. furthermore if you don't like the sounds then output the midi just like you would on vdrums. Tada!
