The shave geometry has NOT changed, so it will shave the same as our original Hawk, but we have made some noticeable improvements to the look, feel and blade loading of the razor. We hope you enjoy and appreciate them! Here are the V2 changes: The top cap has been rounded for a more organic and natural feel on your face. Shavers coming over to the SE world who previously only have DE experience will find the transition much more intuitive. We have changed the blade guide posts to pins. The pins allow easier and better loading of the blades, especially the guarded style blades. We have strengthened the safety bar on the base plate with a new three slot design. This will help prevent the leading edge from being dented if knocked around or if the razor experiences a small drop. We have updated the handle to our Halo ring design for increased comfort and feel. The handle also now includes a butt end which can be unscrewed to allow for a shorter format. Treat it as you would a Feather straight and you'll be fine. I tried it with a Proguard blade and got a very close shave. Uncomfortable? Not really. Silky smooth? Don't even think about it... I got zero cuts/nicks, because I'd been paying paying 80%+ attention the whole time. Side by side I paired it up with a EJ86 loaded with Gillette Silver blade. The EJ doesn't even come close in terms of aggressiveness. So is the EJ inferior? By no means! The EJ coupled with a more aggressive blade is excellent for every day shave (0.5 to 1 day growth). The Razorock SE is excellent for heavier growth. Different jobs, different tools. Review: Well made but not for me! - Well made razor but not the type of blade for me. I shaved twice with this razor with Kia Captain AC blades and I did not care blade feel at all. This was my first Artist Club razor and I think I am just a double edge safety razor guy. The reason is that the width of the blade is about 1 1/2 inches, but only a small part of this would actually touch your head. **Q: Will the stainless steel version ever be back in stock??** A: Don't know if it will be. **Q: does this razor use an injector for the blade?** A: No, although the blades look similar. It takes a bit of getting used to as blade is thicker and longer than other razors out there. A little fidgety loading too but is a well-made product. If it is redesigned with some pivot would make for an easier shave (but cost way more, sigh). I usually have no issues but this took me longer than expected to adjust too.
