Great tool for both reading and note taking - particular if you use different reading apps
I bought the Boox Note Air 2 primarily as a reading device. I do a lot of reading both for leisure and academic work on a variety of different platforms. As many platforms don't allow me to download books without license restrictions I need a reader that gives me access to different apps.I use Scribd as well as Google Books and the library app Libby for casual reading. Many e-books available via my university library are only available for time-restricted download and can only be opened in Adobe Digital Editions. Others can only be read via the browser. The Boox Note Air 2 makes it possible for me to access all of these different materials and read them on the e-ink screen rather than straining my eyes on a normal laptop screen. It definitely improved my reading experience a lot.At the same time, I enjoy the ability to take hand-written notes on the tablet. The writing experience is a lot of fun and I like that I can have all my notes in one place rather than carrying around multiple note books for personal notes and research etc. The split screen option is a great tool for taking notes while reading. The tablet interface is a little different to a 'normal' Android device and it does take a little while to get used to it and figure out what settings work for your personal usage. My use of the tablet is very much focussed on reading and writing. I don't have my email enabled on the device and also do not use it to browse the internet. It is however nice that, in the case of emergency, I can use it that way as well.I find the ability to transfer files to/from the tablet via the Boox Drop very convenient. No need to bother with cables etc.Overall I am very happy with my purchase and will use it for a very long time!Definitely recommended purchase for someone who, like me uses, different sources for their digital reading.

Follow the instruction and everything will be sorted out
There are 2 big app stores available. One is already installed and consists all great applications selected for this device. Most of apps are already installed and works well.Email/Book Reader/Notepad/Eink -Wallpaper, which stays when the device is off.Google Play requires a few initial steps which are explained in the instruction. This is an amazing notepad and a hi res. reader for any type of book you can imagine.Amazon, Kindle, PDF, CHM... + adding your notes. You can setup nearly anything according to your liking. Connectivity is also great thanks to wifi, blootooth and through USB can be connected to a docking station or USB -network RJ45.This device is the best eink experience on the market. It has the fastest CPU, lots of memory and endless possibilities. It can work in a few graphical modes. First is for accuracy of the picture and the fastest one allows to watch youtube content.Touch and pen experience is great.Although, any wacom stylus works well, I like soft tips of Samsung's ones.Battery life is also great comparable to any color-screen android device. What is not so great is the aluminium casing, which is cold and slippery. Maybe it is good to keep the device colder but doesn't give nice texture to hold it. I ordered some rubber stickers to fix it, so hopefully this should be sorted out.

Nearly perfect but...
This is *nearly* a perfect product. BUT...+ E-ink is great. Very easy to read+The writing is excellent. It genuinely is a replacement for paper and is idebtialcal to the (more ecxopensive) ReMarkable+ Having a backlight is good+ Form factor is perfect. Slightly smaller than A4 is actually a better size.+ because it is Android (*) you can Gert apps+ Kindle works brilliantly+ I have Evernote & DropBox synch'd too+ I do not use it fir email (I might) - but I do use Microsoft TO DO abd it is perfect: tick things off, add them to the list, synch to PC etcMost of the negative reviews are weirdly harsh or demoBUTThere are negative...- The UI is awful. Each "app" is different and inconsistent- There are multiple control menus (top bar, skip, "Powerball", left edge...) All with differebt icons.- Lots of obvious things are weirdly hard- The OCR is not bad - but it is hard to actually use. Once you have OCR'd something, then whst? It would be nice iff thst was automatic and Mae search fast - but it isn't- Export to EverNote is useful but fled: it sends PDF images. Evernote can OCR hsandwituing - but not in a PDF. Avd (sas above) Onyx does not use their OCR. So the notes are "static" and not as useful as they should ber.

Better than remarkable!
After lots of research I opted for the Onyx Boox Note Air 2 over the remarkable (though name not as catchy as remarkable). The main reason for this choice was the android operating system. This means I can load apps like one drive to make transferring documents to and from the device even easier. The tablet is really well made, super responsive and perfect for reading and taking notes. I use it every day for work and I'm just about to uni so that will definitely put it thought its paces. I work as a mathematician so casting this device to my laptop screen (very easy to do in windows) to share work with colleagues has been a real game changer! I'm also quite a messy thinker so its been great to be able to move around and rewrite sections of my notes once I've had time to digest and process. Makes it look like my ideas came out all nicely written on the first go ;) plus no wasted paper scribbles.Battery life is fantastic like most e ink displays. I've had this for 6 months and I have charged it maybe once a month (if that).I can't wait to see what Onyx does next - hopefully a 10.3 inch colour display sometime soon!
