Guardian GearMedium Chrome Snake-Chain Dog Collar, 20"

We purchased this to use as a "working collar" for our 120lb. Great Pyrenees based on the advice from people who show their Pyrs. After using this collar for a couple of months, we love it. The chain itself is thin and relatively lightweight, but it is strong enough for walking our giant breed dog without issue. Admittedly, our dog did have good leash manners to begin with before us purchasing this collar (doesn't generally go super crazy on walks and knows the "heel" command), but in the event he does get sidetracked or excited by something, he is very responsive to this collar as soon as it begins to "slip" and immediately corrects what he's doing. Also, the lack of big bulky links on the chain makes it easy to deal with in case its position on his neck needs to be adjusted. The links do not get hung up on one another as they would on on a link chain, and this does not tangle or pull on our dog's long double coat. As an added bonus, the collar doesn't really cover up his fur, so if we want to take a picture of him while it's on, you can't really see the collar.

This is really nice for dogs that have been already trained and only a little encouragement is needed occasionally. It is plenty strong when you need it to be too. It's chain design looks so much nicer than the traditional choke chain design and it weighs a lot less, so it is easier on you dog. It is also very good at staying up on the neck behind the ears where a choke chain does the most good. the regular chains are heavy and continually slide down the neck. It is also nice enough to use in the show ring.

It’s a nice chain, not the highest quality, but it’s pretty good. Sometimes I think it’s will break if my dog pulls too hard on it, but it hasn’t. It’s a lot stronger than it looks/feels. I use it for confirmation showing/training with my 40lb year old Standard Poodle.

I love this show collar but I got the wrong size ... it's too tight on my 8 month old boxer puppy. I took her into the show ring and she got 2nd place ... here I used the martingale leash. Going to send back for the right size.

I really love the snake chain, however you have to be home for it to be delivered. That is very inconvenient for $16.

Have always used these collars instead of the traditional "standard link" choke chains. They work the same in walking your dog and in training techniques too. They avoid fur getting caught in the links, which is a common problem for standard choke chains, especially on long haired breeds. Due to the construction of the no-space-inbetween jeweler links, rather than the standard link type of collar, the chain itself does not tangle or knot. Love it. Have even used it in the show ring. Great for large breeds.

I liked the product but it didn't fit , she's a 20" with thicker items and this was tight. Weird, guess this product she would need a 22" , oh well I'm not going through hoops and never saw a 22" option anyways... In the trash it goes

so far the chain is holding up, but I think more time is needed to determine how long it will last. Thanks

Really pleased with this snake chain which I bought for my Newfie for showing. It isn't easy to find collars/chains for such large dogs. This one really fits the bill. Excellent service.

It is expensive for what it is and it should last much longer than it has. It is colouring the neck of my daughter's white show hopeful puppy and they've just finished their first 6 weeks of Handling Classes, she also uses it for practice.

Works well on my Bird Dog for training not too large or small.

I have 2 English Mastiffs and I can't find this type of chain in their size more importantly this slim type is never seen in stores near me for larger dogs. This slim chain actually works better I love it!

Appears strong and well made - only time can confirm. Only complaint is that it really did take the 2 months to ship - was hoping it would be sooner.
