If you're wondering why you would want this light over the cheaper full spectrum lights, simply put it's the granularity of the controls.Via the remote control, you can adjust the time, start and stop times for photo periods and the exact color spectrum for each time period. There is also an option to attach, control the frequency and schedule a secondary, usb light with this unit. Also, I have to mention that the instructions are clearly printed in a large, full page pamphlet! I have other lights, but none let you control this much, anywhere near to this price point - they all have fixed start/stop time, and one button to cycle through some preset options.I'm going to float this light over a 20 gallon rimless setup, so that it will appear wireless, and I won't have to fiddle with an inline controller every time I want to make lighting adjustments. For ~$50, you're not going to better functionality in a full spectrum aquarium light.

The light produced is great the problem is the junk remote and receiver. I have owned 3 of these aquarium lights and all the remotes malfunctioned and then stop working (and are not cheap to replace at $25 plus shipping). My next light I be sure to avoid any with these types of remotes no matter the brand or rating. .

This aquarium light is very nice. It has so many settings with timers and even slow dimming for a sunset. This is an easy way to keep your fish on a light schedule. The light is bright and makes your aquarium pop. I highly recommend this.
