Mine failed after less than 5 months. Factory warranty is NOT honored by Rheem!
I liked this unit because the power vent is much more quiet than the Rheem that I was replacing. Now I'm having to buy another water heater after less than five months of use. Since Amazon is NOT an authorized dealer, Rheem will not honor the warranty. Otherwise, replacement would be a simple matter of picking it up at a local dealer.

Poor quality. No parts.
50 gal lp heater failed after 5years. Just as warranty ran out of course. No parts readily available. Cold water for guests from Thursday through Monday. Trying another brand next time.

Replaced our GE SmartWater Power Vent water heater with the Rheem...
Our GE SmartWater hot water tank failed and this is our replacement. We purchased the water tank and required installation hardware from our local Home Depot. The water tank comes with a 6 year warranty. Our GE SmartWater tank was almost 9 years old ahd developed a leak at the bottom, requiring replacement.Since we were replacing an existing 50 gallon Power Vented water heater, the process wasn't difficult and a plumber friend installed it for us. The blower motor is MUCH quieter than the old one and you can hardly hear it run. The tank produces quite a bit of hot water in one hour (87 gallons). The blower exhausts through 3" PVC, which we already had installed and the 120v power supply is next to the tank, so we had everything we needed. We've only had the water tank installed and running for 5 days, but it's working very well and quiet! I set the temp at 120 degrees and the light that blinks to indicate the status is easy to see, as is the adjustment dial at the bottom, front of the tank.

Disposable products. Don’t honor the warranty
My 2 years old unit stopped working about 2 weeks ago and it’s been a hellish process to get Rheem to honor the warranty, with endless call transfers and waiting times. I called my home’s builder and the plumber who installed the unit and they mentioned the burner assembly was defective, leading to incomplete combustion and ruining the burning chamber. The plumber asked me to call Rheem and request the burner assembly and combustion safety switch to be shipped to my home, which I did. After not having received the parts within the timeframe promised by Rheem I called again and payed 30 bucks for an overnight shipping. The parts were supposed to be delivered Saturday and obviously they didn’t. I called Rheem again and their customer service rep said they’ll “possibly” ship the parts next Monday and deliver the parts on Tuesday! I scheduled the plumber to come and install the parts next Monday since I believed they’d honor the warranty and the overnight shipping they charged me for.So it’s been 10 days w/o hot water and still uncertain if Rheem will send the parts. Since labor is no longer included in the warranty Rheem’s poor customer service already costed me about 500 dollars, and the unit is still not working. My takeout from this: a) never buy any Rheem product again, because; b) they don’t honor the warranty - that’s why they offer prolonged warranty; c) their products are expensive and disposable (it would have been easier to buy a new one) and; d) their customer support is clumsy and disrespectful.

Failed at 6 1/2 years - right outside the 6 year warranty
I had it professionally installed 6 1/2 years ago. Tonight my basement was flooded as water was spewing out of the bottom of the heater. I shut everything down and now have no hot water and have to spend to get a new one already. it looks brand new. We even have a whole house filter and softener which should have prolonged the life of the heater. Don't buy.
