I'm finally going to get a bit of sleep. *by W***F on October 4, 2024* The media could not be loaded. My dog has been in renal failure and been doing rapid infusion therapy to bring his BUN, Ph, Creatine, and Mg down. If someone is just doing some sub-q at home therapy for a few days the cost I'm sure does not warrant the cost. But, I have been at this for two weeks and there is a good chance my little guy will need infusion therapy daily for the rest of his life. Sometimes I do sub-q and when we have to do rapid infusion I place a catheter in him like I have right now. But, he likes to fold his legs up which occludes the drip. Plus, with gravity fed there is not much pressure to push the ringers/saline into him. I pretty much have to sit and hold his leg all night. Ill drift off for a bit but when he jerks I wake up and have to reset the entire line. Now, I can actually get some sleep. One, because it is a pump, it has a bit more pressure than gravity fed. Two, if it does become occluded an alarm sounds. I can fix it and go back to sleep. It's so easy to use. I absolutely love it.
