I decided to update this review after a month of having it. We debated whether we were going to keep it or not and decided to just keep it. One of the selling points of this humidifier was the large opening so you can reach into clean-out the reservoir area so wouldn't get moldy. I was wondering why even after cleaning this the same day I used it while I was getting the red water mold in the container. It's because this is made of just plastic and not an antimicrobial type of material, which is what other humidifiers that I have had are made of. Of course anything with standing water you need to maintain and wipe down often. The base of this when you remove the tank always has water in it. And I mean always even when it's showing the red light on. That means even if you just go one day without dumping out the base and wiping it down and letting it dry in the air completely you will have mold. Because of the shape of the base it is not easy to clean. You have t to get in there with a tool and when you see mold it can be very unsettling. We ended up having to take ours apart soak it with vinegar wipe it down rinse it and wipe it down again. Again I know that any humidifier can get mold if you don't maintain it properly but we were cleaning it literally right after it was used. So if you get this remember you cannot keep standing water in the base or even longer then half a day or you're going to get red water mold and then black mold will start to form if you go longer than a day without completely dumping the base out and wiping it down several times.This humidifier definitely works but it really is only for a specific area. It will not humidify a large room. They do have that listed in their product description, I believe it says 150 to 300 square feet. That is pretty accurate. If you really want to get full benefits of this you have to put it on a table right next to you.When sleeping at night for example, you'd have to put this on your nightstand. One of the huge downfalls in my opinion is it's sturdiness. The tank just sits on top of the base and doesn't lock in securely, and if you have a larger dog or a cat that jumps around, or a small child that could come up to this they could definitely tip the tank over with very little pressure. So you could use this in a baby's room but I would not use it in a room with a child older than say year or two. That is unless you had it in an area they could not access it at all. That's pretty standard with any humidifier but ones that I've had in the past they were definitely pretty sturdy and the tanks locked into the base.This one like I was saying if you put it on your nightstand and you bumped it it would come off. So that's a huge downfall.And then the light that's on the knob. In the daytime it's unnecessary so I wish you could shut off. But at night time I like to have my room completely pitch black. The light blue might not bother some people but it definitely bothered us. The light also turns red when it runs out of water, so if you wake up in the middle of the night the red light might be startling. The blue light won't necessarily keep you from falling asleep but if you do like a dark room it is going to bother you. And then the mist. I love that you could see it coming out but it kind of goes up and then comes down in a fountain like way if that makes sense. So again the seller did answer a question stating that you should keep it a certain distance from the wall or that a mist might appear on a surface or floor. Because of that, you can't really put it on anything hardwood because it's going to leave water marks. If you put it on the floor you're going to have a small puddle or on a carpet you're going to have the damp spot. So really you have to be very careful where you put this and I haven't had to worry about that with other cool mist humidifiers I've had. It just seems like a lot of maintenance for just a small thing. If I put it on my nightstand at night my husband really doesn't get any of the humidity on the other side of our king size bed. The whole purpose of this was to humidify the whole room and unfortunately it just doesn't work for us.It does have a very quiet sound but if you were using this in your bedroom and need it to be perfectly quiet you will notice it. We sleep with a fan on at night so we can even hear it over the sound of our very quiet fan, so a my opinion that was a plus. I don't think the sound is particularly distracting, but some people it's going to annoy. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to return it. It does work, yes. I do love that it's very easy to clean and that is cool mist. The adding essential oil doesn't really work for me because I'm not interested, but I feel like if you were going to put this on a table may be for a plant to humidify that or right next to you in a sturdy stable area it could be perfect. But if you want to humidify your living room or a larger bedroom it's not going to work.One thing I wanted to mention that's just a pet peeve of mine is that this is manufactured out of the United States which is fine, but some of the verbiage on the box and in the instruction manual is misspelled. I believe that's common when something is translated into English and not proof read, but it just makes it feel a little bit cheaper when something like that isn't edited well. It's just a side note it doesn't have anything to do with the product but it would be nice if more attention was paid to all the details in my opinion.

I thank Amazon for next day delivery while I am away from home! Weather turned cold quickly and my asthma triggered in the night from dry air. Humidifier should be standard on furnaces. A couple miserable nights and I found this one. It did not activate to run when first purchased. Some reviews noted when refilled the sensor did not always activate machine. Next day I emptied and dried then refilled and worked like a dream since. It ran out of water in the night and auto turn off. I could tell when I woke up and the room air was so dry. I will leave this one with family and have ordered one for home to humidify plants that need it. Price and ease of cleaning makes the product very desirable to me.

I don't expect a lot when I don't pay a lot. The only issue I do have is even in low it kicks out a lot of steam. My whole room almost looks foggy. I'm concerned after time thos will have a negative effect on my furniture, doors, walls ect. I don't want a lot of mist. I really wish the lower setting was low.Otherwise it's very easy to clean and very quiet! Easy to fill as well.

Originally bought this for the baby’s room, as I wanted to be able to use essential oil drops. But the “tray” you put them in in the base is really just a little pool, and it mixes with the water in the base… so not sure how it’s not the same as dropping the drops in the tank, and assumed the motor wouldn’t last long.But before the motor had the change to break down, I had many other problems. First, it says it’s adjustable—it’s not. If it’s on the lowest or highest end of the dial, the same amount of water is put out; that is, “high” is your only option. For the baby’s nursery, this is way too much and it’s like a smoke bomb went off in there. Since I’d already used it, I decided to keep it for my room.The cord stays attached to the base, which is a pain for cleaning. The easy top fill is not easy—it was hard not to spill, to get if fitted to the base correctly, every step was annoying to infuriating. Still, I used it for a week. When I disinfected it, per the instructions, I finally saw benefit to the top opening—easy to clean! Yay! Just wish I didn’t have to mangle with the cord while trying to clean the base. Get it all dry, clean and back together. Fill it up, red light. Realign, red light. Dump the water, fiddle with things, fill it up, red light OH BLUE no red. Blue only lasted for a second. I gave up and brought it to the bathtub to deal with it in the morning, and that stupid, permanently attached cord tripped me and the water sloshed and I slipped. Now I have a giant bruise on my leg, no working humidifier, and I’m about as annoyed as I can be at any piece of equipment.Bought a crane for the baby’s room. Guess I’ll buy another for myself.

This humidifier is of great quality and a reasonable price.

Quiet can’t even hear it, simple instructions and easy to clean.
