Q: Can you cut disc on haft and put in spices?

It's made of terra cotta so I do not know the answer but I would not do it because it may leave fragments in your food - better to buy a few more. Mine work great in the brown sugar - each time I use the sugar I soak the disks in water for a few minutes & it really keeps the sugar soft.

Q: How often do should i “re-charge” the disc by soaking? it’s in a large, sealed jar of semi dry brown sugar. monthly? every couple months?

I have used the clay pieces for years. I don't refresh them that often. I actually feel them and if they are totally dry, I put the clay in a small cup with water and let it sit for 10 min or less..... I am usually in the middle of cooking and don't think about the time. Then, I pat it dry and put it back in the brown sugar.

Q: Where is this item made?

Disgustingly it’s made in China! When will we learn about their poor metallurgy and use of chemicals in their products and stop buying from them??!!

Q: Does this work for white granulated sugar?

I’ve never tried it on white granulated sugar however, it works great with brown sugar. Give it a go. I imagine it would work the same if your sugar needs moisture.
