Coleman Faucet- slightly improved version, but you can further improve
I hike and camp a lot and use my Coleman jug 50+ days a year so it sees a lot of use. The faucets and vent plugs break way too often and are stupid expensive to replace with shipping costs. After having several faucet failures I looked at the design and now modify them as follows to greatly improve life. Once I modified one faucet it has lasted over a year with no issues. I recently modified a second one for a spare for a trip.Modify: cut off the lower portion of the handle with a hacksaw. Using this portion, specifically the lower end, is what causes the faucets to crack as it puts a bending moment at the attachment point at the top. Removing it will stop it from being used! File the cut portion smooth. This alone should be enough, but I then fill both sides of the hollow portion of the handle with JB Weld which makes it stronger and more comfortable to use. Scratch up the surface where you'll apply the JB to aid adhesion. With the faucet handle horizontal, fill the recess with JB. Do one side at a time; let it dry as required before doing the other side. You'll need a small piece of tape at the cut to hold in the JB. After it cures, remove the tape. File or sand the JB as necessary on the lower corner. In the third photo you can see that Coleman has somewhat improved the handle- new version has a stiffening ribYou can also repair the vent with fishing line as shown. Use a small drill, drill two holes, and tie.

Easily Fixable Design Flaw
These faucet spouts crack apart when opening them in normal use. I'm surprised that Coleman hasn't figured out the issue with the poor design of these faucets. The jugs themselves are great and it would not take much of a design change to take this Achilles heel, that is the faucet, from crap to awesome. Unless of course they are making a lot of money from customers buying these replacements at nearly $10 a pop. Their cost of goods sold is probably 50 cents (a minor scam?). Come on Coleman; you're better than this.Remember to return your broken ones for a full refund. Don't let the seller get away with it.

Junk, but I keep buying them.
We've spent years using the Coleman water carrier. The faucet spout needs to be replaced often due to breaking. There isn't much competition from other companies--cheap plastic items are nearly all made outside the US. So rather than buy a new water carrier every time the spout breaks, we are "forced" to purchase new spouts. If you buy a Coleman water carrier, you'll be lucky to get a year's use out of the spout. The carrier itself is of acceptable quality. The spout? . . .Another example of poorly made China junk!

Garbage.
Lasted two months of regular use before breaking in the same fashion as the original spigot that I replaced. They don't even work that well before they break - the action is kind of stiff, the lever is unergonomic, and the little raised bump stop prevents you from even opening the valve fully. I bought this because I hate the idea of having to throw away something that is otherwise entirely functional. But for two/thirds the price of a new jug + spigot, save yourself the frustration and buy a different brand of water jug.

Leaks
I purchased a defective part, leaks at the threads, i tried different times and leaks all time, worst part is this seller does not do returns. Waste of $10.

Finally had to replace 10 year old valve
I was surprised that Coleman still supported my 10+ year old 5 gallon water container. The valve finally died and I thought it was a long shot to find a replacement. Surprise! Amazon, from Coleman, sold the part for a bargain price. Thank you Coleman for supporting your products while helping consumers from unwillingly adding to the ever growing land fills. I will continue to be a devote customer for many reasons to include this one.

NOT RETURNABLE AND DIDN'T WORK
I felt the description and pictures should have been better on this item. I have an orange 5 galon Coleman jug and I have seen blue ones just like it but this is a turn spout not a push in spout. I haven't seen turn spouts in a long time so I wonder if this is old stock. Long story short don't buy this it probably won't work for your Coleman cooler and you won't be able to return it. Package actually says Coleman Faucet Cooler Accessory For use on the 5 Gallon Water Carrier Model 5620. See water carrier bottom to find model number.

Works well so far.
This faucet that I received couple months ago is quite different from the original one that my Coleman jug came with - here, the plastic material is more shiny and feels noticeably smoother and harder, action is much more smooth, and it's not dripping water at all. Will see how far it goes, but at this point I'm rather happy with this faucet.
