It was worth the wait to find them (well, almost), and worth the money.
I work in a freezer, and as you would expect, my hands get very cold. I have tried for years, to find different types of gloves to keep my hands warm, but with little success. I have worn liners inside other gloves, doubled 2 different types of gloves, but after 15 or 20 minutes my hands would start getting cold. So cold they would hurt. So I was desperate to find something that would keep my hands warm. After months of research online, I still wasn't happy with what I was finding. Everybody advertising their product was the best, but once I read the reviews, and I read hundreds of them, I knew I needed to continue my search. One day, by referencing and cross referencing, I came across these Dachstein mittens. Again, I read over a hundred reviews... but this time... they were almost all positive. In fact, the ones that had issues usually had to do with size and that was probably because they didn't measure correctly. Even then, the company got high remarks for their outstanding customer service. After reading all of this, I was willing to give them a try. Am I glad I did! I had my concerns about spending $65 on wool mittens, after all, wool is old fashioned and not the new micro blah blah blah. Well, I had never heard of boiled wool, and I didn't know if it was just another sales gimmick, but IT SEEMS TO WORK! These mittens are heavy, thick wool, with long cuffs that extend way up your wrist. I didn't want to spend so much money on them, just to have them get snagged on something, so I bought a pair of leather mittens to go over the wool ones to protect them from damage. I've been using them this way for a week now, and my hands have not gotten cold yet. If you are in extreme cold conditions, and need something to keep your hands warm, I highly recommend these. I also recommend a leather shell on the outside to protect your investment. One more thing... you are going to like the customer service! 😊

Winter hiking gear for White Mtns.
If your hands sweat on ascents, then go into stage 1 frostbite when the going gets easier, welcome to my world. That's all changed for the better now. These 4 ply mittens are a key component to a reserve glove system in 0F and below windchill environments.I use an XXL unlined chopper mitt (about $20) as a shell on size 8, 4 ply mittens. (Treat shell with with snow seal!) Nice fit, no squeeze, and not excessively bulky. The combination provides superor warmth to re-warm hands while winter hiking in NH White Mountains. (Too hot for ascents). I put hand warmers between the shell and mitt at the start of a hike. Otherwise, you will suffer until your hands can warm up the mitts from whatever is the outside air temp. After your hands get comfortably warm, you' might find youself switching back to gloves and sharing the reserve system with a buddy in cold-hand agony.Size per vendor instructions was good. Might seem a bit tight putting hand in, but fits well once on. After using many glove/mitten "systems" over the years, this is the only one I trust to re-warm my hands and stay out of the painful freeze-thaw cycles.

Well worth the money.
Quality product. I used a lesser mitten for a few years. These made a big difference in functional choppers.

How these mittens compare to other Dachstein mittens.
I wish there was a ranking of the various options of mittens available. The pair I got is not as thick as the one I purchased several years ago, but unfortunately lost.

Very warm mittens, tested in Vermont
These are the warmest wool mittens I have tried to date.I had these for a major storm where power was lost & indoor temp. went from 70 to 46 in a day. Then after no power, phone, internet ,NUTHIN' we are blessed with a day of no snow but 2 feet+ on the ground another storm comes through about a week later, after the roads were repaired and passable, we get a deep Arctic Dip.Temps go to -50+ degrees with winds gusting to 70mph.We were lucky, did not lose power, but even with the heat set to come on reaching 70 sat. ambit could only make it to 66 degrees.I ran the heat all day at 3 PM it hit 70 in the house. These mittens were tested as my. hands are always cold & these worked well.Thank you!

Don't seem to have the same quality that Dachstein used to have
About 20 years ago I bought a pair of Dachstein mittens and wore them for many years until I finally wore a hole through one of the thumbs. They wore like iron, were very warm, and very windproof. I have only worn this new pair a couple of times so I cannot comment on durability. They are quite warm but I am somewhat disappointed in the tightness of the weave since they do not seem very windproof. I will probably wear them inside some goretex mitten shells to cure the wind issue. Overall, I am somewhat disappointed in these given the price. They do not seem all that much better than a pair of FoxRiver mittens I have that cost only about one third as much.
