Major Upgrade for me
I bought this router after upgrading my standard def Dish Network DVRs to Dish Network HD DVRs. I had an old Linksys 802.11b wireless router which never failed me and was on 24-7 for maybe 8 years? A long time with no problems. Dish Network recommended Netgear wireless N usb adapters for the receivers which I installed with no problems. They accessed the internet via the old router and showed selections for Dish Cinema downloadable TV shows and Movies, as well as being able to access the DVR on-line with Dish Online. Everything worked fine - except, I could not download videos. I called Dish, and they thought my set-up should work. I thought that if it should work it would. Typical of CSRs - they are behind the curve on new technology. I was ready to upgrade my WAN anyway so this was the stimulus. First, I upgraded DSL speed from 1.5 MB to 7MB, using the old router. A visible change occured with Dish Cinema in that it started showing more information about the down-load and quit giving me a strange message that my download had expired on 12/31/1969 - WTF on that! However, no download. The new router arrived, easy set-up, instant internet access, and when I tried a download from Dish, it worked on the first try.The dual bands are great - two DVRs on the 5mb frequency and the home computers on the 2.4mb. Be advised that the 5MB frequency has a MUCH weaker signal. One of my DVRs is in the basement and the Netgear router is on the 2nd floor. However, the DVR on the same floor as the router had 25% signal strength and the one in the basement had 18-22%. Anyway, that level is enough to work with the DVRs. On the other hand, the 2.5M frequency is very strong, being 5x5 in the basement, where the old linksys was 50%.I set up with WEP 128, which is plenty good enough for me (my lap-top has an Athereos wireless adapter which I've read can't do WPA.) The laptop was running at 11MPS on the old Linksys and is now running at 54MPS with the Netgear router. That's a big change and I can really tell the dif on downloads. And a bonus is the router USB port with \\readyshare. Hook up your usb drive (any kind) to the router and access the drive from any computer in the house. Just run the readyshare setup from the setup CD on each computer and you're in. Awesome feature and simple setup.Last word - this product solved my DVR problems, sped up my WAN significantly, and gave me network storage. WORTH every penny. I have a complex set-up and this thing didn't blink.

Warning, beware the Country this is used for.
We just switched from DSL to Cable. I wanted to just have one cable through the wall in the Living Rm. This router was perfect. Wired it to our RoKu, PopBox, and Diretv DVR. Placed a 1.5TB USB Hard Drive at the Router's USB input as a Network Drive (Z). Then the Computors are Wireless N so the speed is fine.I do notice N band drops off after 30 to 35' in signal compared to the G band using inSSIDer program (Free download)We also have a WII connected wirelessly at the other end of the house in the basement Playroom. It is on G Guest. We stream NetFlixs on it without a problem. So it fills our needs just fine. Haven't had to do any reboots yet with the cable modem or the router. The bottom says it's 3700 as others have mentioned.***************************************************************{{UPDATE 10/6/10}}I removed two stars because of the problem below!!!The router works fine, it's the "REGION" that is the problem....I found in the setup that the "REGION" is set for Africa!I am dealing with NetGear to fix this as they tell me1. You cannot change the Region, it's built in the core.2. It affects any Firmware and warranty issues.Amazon doesn't seem concerned because all they will do is give me a refund and I can order a new one. OK, How do I know Amazon will send a router with USA as the Region? Huh!So now I have emailed Netgear and have told them what Amazon's atitude is about the problem. Who knows how many of these "AFRICA" routers Amazon is selling here in the States?

Decent router that works out of the box
I upgraded from the Netgear WPN824 and wow what a difference! With the WNDR37AV I now get full bars in every room, through four walls (metal stud construction) except in the garage which gets almost full bars. Setup was very easy. This router does drop every once in a while, but not like the old router did every hour or so! The USB port on the back is a nice feature. I wish they would have taken it a step further and added one or two more for additional storage or a local printer server. The data rate over the network storage is rather slow, but I only use it for occasional backups so it doesn't bother me too much. In all I'd say this is a decent router for the money.

Not worth the money
I bought this router in July 2011. At that time I was living in a house and the router worked pretty good, although I did still have to do the occasional reset with it. A couple of months later I moved into an apartment complex. The router worked well for about the first month, and then it turned to crap. I could never maintain a reliable connection. If I wanted to use the internet I had to reset the router AT LEAST 4-5 times a day; that's sitting about 25ft away from the router. Sometimes I would be in my bedroom, which is about 10ft away, and the connection would still drop. It made playing online games with my PS3 nearly impossible because most of the time the PS3 couldn't even connect to the internet, and when it did the connection was very slow. I contacted my ISP and they said that my modem had been connected without any problems for several months. I also tried pinging through my network, and whenever the connection was slow I couldn't even get a response from the router. I ended up buying an Asus RT-N56U this week, which is working better. I think this router would do ok in a home environment where there is absolutely no interference; however, the signal is just way too weak to be reliable in any location that has other wireless signals. Even when it said I had 3-4bars of signal the connection would drop. Changing channels makes no difference. I wasted my money and I am very disappointed with the performance of this router.
