Tomahawk Neighborhood Cat Drop Trap

I used a wire basket with a stick for 10 years. It worked great but didn't have a door. I'm so glad that someone realized some cats are too smart for other traps and improved my make shift design. This trap is wonderful with the transfer cage. It is very large so you don't have to worry about getting the cats tail caught under the basket. I love this!!!I have just tried using this for the first time and wanted to update my review. I still love the concept but have found that the basket is actually too big. Getting the cats trapped is a breeze, the problem is getting the cats to go into the transfer cage. I tried putting can food in the transfer cage and that didn't work. You have to be there with the transfer cage in order to put the sliding door down once they are in it and the cats do not want to go anywhere near a human. I spent hours trying to get the cat to go into the cage before I finally lifted the top of the trap and tried to catch the cat. Needless to say the cat got away and I haven't seen him since. There has to be a way to make this work, I just don't know what it is.

Folds up like a suitcase, sturdy, easy to assemble (no tools, all connected), Easy video to show how to put together, side door with springs to hold the secondary transport cage or trap.Expensive, but worth it. A Lifetime purchase. Would buy again.

We watched the videos and followed their advice to the letter and caught a very fearful feral cat on our first try. It is important to set it up and allow the cat to get used to being fed in it for several weeks. I bought the transport carrier as well, and the two together worked perfectly. Well worth the price so we could move the cat with us and not worry about her starving. I then donated both to an organization that traps feral cats and their kittens to rehab and get them adopted.

I am so glad I finally shelled out and got this. My cat had been missing for a month and a half and was too elusive and smart to be caught by hand or with standard traps. But the first night we set this drop trap up we got her! So easy to set up and use, and the sliding door to attach a smaller trap for transporting the cat was rock solid.My only suggestion is to really put something heavy on the anchor like the instructions suggest. I used 2 rocks but they weren't heavy enough and my cat nearly knocked the trap off the porch before we ran over to stop her.Would absolutely recommend for anyone with an elusive or person/trap shy cat.

I followed directions and watched videos and began feeding the mother cat & kittens under the trap. I did have some clear plastic over the top to protect them in the rain. and I had it supported for several days on concrete patio blocks so it wouldn't accidentally fall on anyone while not attended.The day I was ready to trap, I ran a small length of string about five feet away behind a door and I caught 3 of the 5 kittens within 15 min, but I had to wait about 2 hrs or so for the other 2 to show up. It would have been better to catch all 5 at once, but per the videos, I made sure that I didn't have any "kitten witnesses" when I trapped the first 3, so we we done in no time.You need the transfer cage to get the kittens out and it's worth it to pay a couple extra bucks to get it with 2 doors. These products are USA Made and EXCELLENT quality! I'll be ordering more stuff from this company as the quality is just great. I got the uncoated silver metal version, but I saw that they also have them with powder coatings in black if you want black.
