Girl from Bossa Nova

This is my 2nd SACD purchase of her work...I played Lust Life the other night. I recently played The Girl From …. and was a bit surprised, it's a true 5.1 mix...what I mean by that is with not further manipulation, the vocals come from the CC speaker as a discrete channel...played at about 65 dB the multi-ch mix really comes alive.The content I liked, true to Bossa Nova, with a nice Latin flavor with the percussion...vocals were not quite as strong as in Lust Life, but I enjoyed it, this will be a frequent choice.

This is a very nice bossa nova vocal CD, but could have been better. This has some great improvising with John Pisano on guitar, Harry Allen on tenor sax, and Bill Cunliffe on piano. I thought some of the songs were too slow, especially Summer Samba, and Corcovado. Also, some questionable pronunciation, like "the wave "it's" on its way to be". Even still, a very enjoyable quality CD for bossa lovers. I'd grade it a "B".

Not quite up to the standard of the previous two releases by Jacintha, where she played around with the songs and arrangements more. This one's a bit static - and a bit light on in length. She still sounds great, and so do the band.

Very good audio sound, nice music.

Tuve la suerte de comprar esta maravilla hace un par de años, y debo decir que la calidad y calidez de la grabación y la interpretación es tal que puede usarse como referencia para probar equipos de sonido.

Ho comprato il vinile. Questa artista e la sua etichetta sono note anche per la qualita' delle registrazioni. Jachinta e' un'artista da conoscere: e' dotata nel canto e l'etichetta che la edita cura moltissimo le incisioni. Fra i dischi di questa ragazza questo e' forse artisticamente il meno riuscito. Nelle soite 10 o 15 canzoni che hanno reso celebre la Bossa Nova in tutto il globo, ci sono indubbiamente interpretazioni migliori. Bestiale la qualita' dell'incisione: impatto, dinamica, mixaggio davvero ai vertici assoluti
