Good for playing ala Lester Young
It was what i want but a bit close for my taste... this 7 plays like a 6*

I like it so far, very playable.
Not crazy about the ligature, it doesn't seem to fit well. Otherwise, great!

The projection is great and it produces a big fat sound
I've been playing just about all my life and have a degree in music. I've been using a Meyer, medium chamber mouthpiece on my Selmer Mark VI. I was blown away when I first used the Otto Link Tone Edge. It has a large chamber and it really opened up my sound. I practiced with it for two days (using old brown box Rico reeds 2 1/2, Rico Royals 2 1/2 and Vandoren Blue Box 2 1/2) then used it on a big band gig Saturday night. The projection is great and it produces a big fat sound. I can still play soft enough to blend in with the sax section, can subtone low B flat and hit altissimo with no problem. That Sunday I went to a jam session and sat in for a few tunes, but it was the ballad that really set this mouthpiece apart from my other mouthpieces. This mouthpiece performs! I read where some people had issues with this mouthpiece but I don't. I do not use the ligature that came with it because I prefer a Bonade. I recommend this mouthpiece. Give it a try, you just might be surprised.

Nice warm sound
I have tried multiple hard rubber mouthpieces. This Otto link gives me the flexibility that I am seeking . The low and high registers are equally warm. You don’t have to spend big bucks to get the sound that you are looking for . You need a mouthpiece that’s well built and you do the rest .You ultimately control your sound , not y out your mouthpiece .

JJ Babbitt Otto Links Have Concave Table
Very disappointing to find out that JJ Babbitt Otto Links are intentionally manufactured with a concave table. Thinking it was a defect, I contacted Babbitt, hoping that they would offer to replace mine but their response was that it was made this way on purpose. They said that with this technique, that no matter where you placed the ligature, high or low, it would seal at the bottom of the window. Well, it does not seal enough to get a vacuum-pop, I will tell you that. It's as if there is a hole in the mouthpiece, no seal at all, no matter how tight you crank down the ligature. I have tried it with various reeds: Vandoren, D'Addario and Legeré in the 1.5 to 2.5 range.I am not aware of any other company that has this practice of making concave tables, though they may exist. It seems that most companies, especially boutique companies, brag about their hand-finished flat tables. Maybe I'm wrong?Another thing is that the inside tip is not contoured evenly from the left to the right. The left side is thicker and the right side is thinner. I do not know if or how this might affect playability but it is somewhat disconcerting.

Classic design, poor manufacturing
I had read on a number of sites that the quality control of the manufacturer, Babbitt, is poor. Sure enough, the ToneEdge I received would not seal around the reed (failed the 'pop' test). I gently slid the table on #800 sandpaper on a plate glass. The resultant contrast highlighted a depression at the base of both rails, which prevented a proper seal. I gently sanded until the rails and table were flat. It now plays well with a #3 reed, with the dark and woody tone for which this design is known. It's deplorable that a company that owns classic american mouthpiece designs cares so little about quality. It's possible to put out a consistent high quality product - for example, Vandoren mouthpieces are widely praised for being consistently well made and finished, and reasonably priced.

Great mouthpiece
I know these mouthpieces have a reputation of manufacturing consistency. And although I don’t think this one is manufactured perfectly it does play super well and I’m enjoying it very much. Great sound and easy to play with just the right amount of resistance for me anyway.

Really woke up my tone!
Worked like a charm. Ligature is so-so. Used a Rovner instead.I was ready to give up on my tenor sax tone. This mouthpiece made me sound much better, immediately.Plenty bright, yet plenty warm. Used a Plasticover 2 1/2 reed.Free blowing, easy altissimo, can sub tone all the way down to lowest note.I’ve heard it is easy to fix a bad one.Well worth the money to try.
