Product has minor bugs, Customer care worst ever
I purchased this item, and within a month I lost connection to the keys. I am in IT and performed some checks. Ensured my router had not changed, although they tout that you do not need to open ports. At any rate, I finally submitted a ticket on 12/26/12, it is now 3/1/13 and I have had a grand total of 5 responses, to my 14 updated posts in the ticket. Of those only 3 were directional in an effort to help and Despite giving them everything I could, the first response was within a few days, the second was 35 days and me bumping the ticket 5 times. The third was the same day as the second, the 4th was a week later and the last was 8 days later. I have not had a response since then and its been over a week. The last thing they asked me to do was reset my router to default settings. Really? Reset my router, I host multiple sites and can not afford to reset my router because of a conflict in the ditto. In the end, I incorporated some assistance from another IT friend and we narrowed the issue down. We found it was indeed a programming glitch with the ditto and determined a solution. It had nothing to do with my network, which was all the ditto team focused on, they were resistant that it could possibly even be the ditto itself. And here we are, a week without a response, I solved the issue on my own after wasting a dozen hours of my time on a product that touts itself as self setting. As such, I can not recommend this product, not because the product itself isn't good, but because if you have any issues, they are in no hurry to care about helping you resolve it. It could easily get dragged beyond warranty time and leave you with a very costly paperweight.I will keep and use it as I intended and feel more comfortable knowing what I now know. I will not post it here because I do not feel they should benefit from my work, but if anyone has a similar issue with connecting outside your network, email me on amazon and I will get you fixed right up, I bet I do it in considerably less time than them.I have noticed increasingly poor customer care the last couple of years, some still go above and beyond to make it right, but some just do not care to be bothered after they get your money. Its really to bad, this had potential, excellent ground breaking potential. To fail due to customer care is quite sad.

Drive failure after 1yr.
WAPOS. Had this for just over a year with data piled onto both drives (configured independently according to instructions), then right outside of the 'Exchange/Refund/Warranty' time period, one of the 2TB drives failed. Tried to troubleshoot using Seagate support (another joke) their recovery software would not even see the drive. Now all data on that drive is lost and I would bet it's only a (short) matter of time before the other one goes out.Configuring software and USB key setup never worked as the manual indicates - possible I just got a defective unit from the start but if the other reviews are very accurate, it seems I am not the only one.I would recommend doing more research on other NAS solutions before buying this POJ.UPDATE 1/7/2016:2nd drive just failed yesterday. $400 and a ton of data, down the drain...

Not perfect
Bought this a week back to set up a central data repository for my home... and there are Macbook, iPad, android, windows 7 and XP. Lot of photos, movies, mp3s and other files.Set up:Easy. I use in Raid-1 mode. The other options are Raid-0 and JBOD Just a Bunch Of Drives ). Hooked the network cable, it found the IP, and ready to go.Created two accounts. Sharing is easy across user accounts.Initial data load :Annoying ! when myDitto client software works, it is fine. But if the myDitto client crashes, it does not remember the list you created for transfer. and now you go and find out what is not backed up and create another list. To keep you in pain, it will ask you to confirm every time it finds a duplicate. No 'skip all' option. What a pain! But once done, things seems to be ok. Client Program helps you to mount myDitto as a drive in your Mac and Windows machines.IPAD / Android : I can access data from both iPAD & Android. Very easy to configure. You can access even out side your home network. No streaming support for videos. So forget about watching movies unless you are ready to download the complete movie to your iOS or Android device.Mac / Window 7 / XP : Works well.Streaming : No streaming support for video. This is another teaser. You can see the video file, but wont be able to play it unless you download as a local copy. So forget watching blueRay or HD movies.Looks : Above average. Not Jennifer Lopez.Sound : Some where between smooth Jazz and rock. not horrible.Overall : Hmm... not perfect. Biggest annoyance is that the client program crashes during the initial, large data load...leaving you search for words those are not in bible. You will search for same words when you come across lack of video streaming support. Otherwise, good product.
