A total winner!
I looked for a long time at a wide variety of stem-type toys for my 4yo. I wanted something that made sense for his current skills, but could still be a fun thing to create with as he grows older. I wanted something he could take in the bath, or otherwise use to think mechanically in his own creative way. I started to look at these for the possible added feature of using them to roll small marbles through for fun, and you could probably do this, but you would need to avoid a couple of types of pieces that have a small plastic piece blocking the hole. Regardless of all that, this is simply fantastic and everything I had hoped for, with the exception of my unreasonable marble hope (which it may still be possible to do). I use these to give him in behavior incentive "good guy bags." This works great because they are nice and chunky for his four-year old hands, they do not require tools (they may actually help him grow to the skills needed for tools), and giving him just ten or so at a time is plenty to send his superhero imagination deep into weapon-building mode, which can carry over to the bath, be dragged outside with him, etc. The case they came in is substantial, and much appreciated. Right when you open the case, the contents seem substantial. This small kit presents impressivly like it has twice the pieces it does. I look forward to getting the musical instrument set, if my son continues to respond to this idea of an incentive that works together with previous incentives given. I mean really, ten of these with a fun pen, a stencil, and a few sticker sheets...that is enough to seem like a treasure bag to a young creative mind, enough so that I keep giving him the same gift over and over and over. I can't wait to see how far he can go. I am ready for him to build the eifel tower, if that is his chosen ultimate objective. Bravo, toy designers, bravo! This is a job very well done! Plus, even the small kit has six wheels. After he goes to bed, the truth is I also play with these myself, because they appeal to my puzzle-solving brain.

Easy to use for toddlers
Absolutely loved this for my nephew. He immediately stopped playing with all his toys and played with these tubes throughout his birthday party. The best part was having its own container to store them in.

Durable and colorful, good for older toddlers
These are really durable. They are stronger than I expected and I can see them lasting a long time. The parts slide Into each other easily. They work good for my 5 year old to make his own creations. He enjoys them, but I wish there were actual directions to put together some of the cars they displayed. There is a picture, but its hard for me to figure out the stuff from the picture. These are harder for my 3 year old to use because some ends dont fit Into others, so she gets frustrated. I would say they are best suited for older kids.

Endless fun
If your kid is into building this is a must have. My 5 year old plays with this all the time. Really good quality, no sharp edges.

Ease of use
My little guy loves these. They are easy to use and he doesn't get frustrated with them coming apart. He has created some wonderful designs.
