Simple and elegant writing journal
Lovely soft leather cover with a worn look - just perfect as a birthday gift for a journalist friend. The packaging in brown paper and a recycled box was a nice touch. The writing paper, however, is rather too yellowed and coarse for my liking, but the recipient was happy, which is all that matters I suppose.

Looks good, but leather dye bleeds on everything
The notebook looks really nice, but unfortunately bleeds on all my stuff. If I'm taking notes in a meeting and sit the planner on my lap, I can expect to have a brown stain on my clothes where it was resting. When I store it in my bag, I have to make sure not to put any papers or documents in the same pocket or they come out greasy and covered in brown splotches. Not really worth it if I can't carry it or use it without getting stains. Luckily the stains seem to wash out of clothes.I'm disappointed with this purchase, and would not purchase it again.

Great feel, great construction
Just got my new journal. It looks and feels amazing. I was worried about the clasp being loose and not holding the covers together, but there's no problems with that happening. It's a tight, snug fit.The leather covers are very floppy, so they don't provide any support if you're wanting to write without a table. It comes with card stock pages at the front/back of the pages. I don't see this solving all support problems, so I can see myself needing to buy heavier card stock or more card stock for the ends to make stronger support. You can flip the front of the book all the way back, but I wouldn't put too much pressure on it. I don't see a problem with the construction and the book falling apart, but the leather would definitely crease.I can't speak to the paper because I'm changing the paper from lined to dotted grid. One thing I could see being annoying is that the lines are wide-ruled. If you hate wide-ruled pages as much as I do, then I'd buy A5 paper from somewhere else. The A5 paper I bought fit perfectly, so you shouldn't have any problems getting a standard A5 size.Overall, I'm incredibly excited to trick this journal out and start writing!

High Quality Lure for Words
I purchased the smaller version of this journal for myself. When my son started sneaking his grubby teenage writer's hands towards it, I purchased this size for him. Both came beautifully packaged. I love the rich feel of the leather and how supple it is - real leather, not the plastic knockoffs. When you open the journal the covers stay open. They don't curl back on the pages as stiffer material would. Every time I pull mine out I get compliments on it. It's not very often any more that you find quality handcrafts. If you love the pull of the blank page, the lure of the journal just waiting for your words (even if it's just grocery lists) then you'll want to carry these with you.
