I wanted to boost the signal strength of a small dual antenna that came with my computer. I thought this big antenna would be better or at least the long cable would be closer and thus stronger. It did not. My signal quality dropped from low-mid 80% to low 60% according to the WiFi analyzer app. (Or around 10 dB in the RSSI for technical folks). The only benefit I can see with this is if the device has really bad position in a shielded location (eg. lots of metal) and you needed a long cable run to get into the clear. As it is larger than antennas that come with WiFi routers, this size may actually not be suitable for WiFi and be mis-marketed.
