Book as Advertised
The book came promptly and was packaged fine. I am extremely satisfied with the condition of this item! Aside from a few small marks on the covers, it is perfect. I wish all books identified as "Very Good" came in this condition. I usually purchase from "Wonderbook" when they are vendor selection!!

4.5. Very good
The book is very long. Great details and multiple plots all evolved around a central action. The only reason for seating less than five is the very long section detailing the war scenes. I didn't find that part interesting so scrolled past it.

Good follow-up to 'Debt of Honor'
Clancy has a talent for spinning tales with mutiple interwoven plots -- and this book will not disappoint those who have come to enjoy this style. Our hero, Jack Ryan, now finds himself promoted to the very top position in the United States government -- the presidency. A job he didn't want, circumstances have placed him in the excutive office with a full two thirds of the government apparatis demolished via a terrorist act.To add to his woe, middle eastern agents have introduced biological warfare into the country -- and one of the secret service men guarding him is a sleeper agent waiting for the proper moment to execute him.In true Clancy style all these things develop simultaneously and provide an interesting (if rather longish) story. I find it particularly interesting to note that much of the action seems to mirror the real world September 11th terrorist acts (the book was released a couple of years prior to this event). Could it be that the novel was used as a blueprint by real world terrorists or at least provided them the idea? It's an interesting theory. Read the story and make your own determination.Bottom line is this is an important installment in the ongoing adventures of the (now) legendary Jack Ryan -- one you will want to read and add to the collection. The tale will keep you up late waiting to see how Jack copes with the developing situations though the outcome is never really in doubt.** Recommended **~P~

One of Clancy's all time best.
This is really one book in a trilogy that is just about the best casual reading I've ever found.Clancy was a super-star. I miss that there will be no more from him, but the ones he left behind are well worth re-reading from time-to-time.

Gripping
Clancy at his best. Well thought out, fast paced, and without doubt some of his best writing. Clancy's research is evident as he describes in detail air, ground, and sea action.

A MUST read - ONLY get hardcover, too many pages for soft cover
Just bought a new hardcover copy as paperback fell apart - lost track of how many times I've read...

Not short of details
For those interested in very specific details on the of politics/government and the military, including warfare strategy, this is an excellent read. I found some of the last 200 pages ( of approx 1350 pages) more than i preferred.I do have interest in the evolving and operationalizing of the main character - Jack Ryan.

Fantastic book!
The kindle edition has quite a few typos in (I had to read a few sentences a couple of times to understand) but not enough to knock a star off.
