Great movie in dvd.
Supposedly base on a true story about a tiger & an India young man who survived a capsized ship during a thunderstorm while on a survival boat they found. Through days together as enemies...became friends for the sake of staying alive & finally landed on an island where there are people on it. Thanks.

It's fairly good.
I don't think it lives up to the hype. The animal CGI is quite good, but not totally convincing. The story is weird and imaginative.

Visually Stunning
I've been in mourning ever since my LG 3D TV stopped working, I really miss watching my discs. If you are able to watch 3D movies, do yourself a favor and purchase this. I didn't know much about it when I bought mine. It won the best picture Oscar and I decided to finally open mine and watch it. I sat there mesmerized for two hours. When I bought it I thought, "How exciting can a movie about a young Indian man, stuck out in the ocean in a raft be?" Wow, was I wrong! As stated earlier, it's the most visually stunning experience I've ever had. I own quite a few 3D discs and this is the one I would keep if I was only allowed to own one.

Very entertaining film that could be better
I enjoyed this film very much, and would be inclined to give it 5 stars - but it already has many 5-star revews...so I'll object to just a few things. The opening sequence had beautiful 3D renderings and whetted my apetite for a 3D extravaganza - but the rest of the film wasn't so 3-dimensional as the opening. Fortunately, the core story was quite engrossing, well told, and visually exciting even without much use of the 3rd dimension. I'll find fault with a metaphorical turn at the end, without mentioning plot details. There was a brief exegesis in the film, which was in my opinion almost unnecessary, and too brief to make much of the metaphors. That sent me to the book, which i hadn't read, where I found a much more detailed exegesis, which was interesting, but would have required more preparation in the earlier part of the story in order to make it possible for the themes to make sense. That might have been a good idea, since there was a little puppy-love story that ended up being a loose end in the film. That story could have been cut, in favor of stronger development of the vegetarian theme that IMO would add substance to the film. Nitpicking aside, this is one of the most interesting 3D films that I've seen - especially in its opening sequence!

A powerful movie with depth
I originally saw this movie in 2-D and hesitated to buy it in 3-D because I've found that sometimes if it is incredible viewing in 3-D, it sometimes detracts from the message the movie may be trying to convey. In this case, the 3-D enhanced the message. I rarely if ever re-watch a movie I have seen, but in this case I have watched it three times and still feel I have not grasped all the meaning the film has to offer. It is filled with multiple religious views, suffering and salvation, symbols of good (light) and evil (dark), the smallness of man, and it leaves the viewer making his own choice as to what he believes. The 3-D and artful photography is phenomenal. Some of the photography takes your breath away, for example the night at sea, totally black, except for the tiny boat and thousands of bioluminescent jelly fish surrounding it. Everything is sharp and clear out to infinity even with the constant water motion which flows up to your TV set. It's truly like you are really there. Water spray and rain pour into the room, and I'm sure the experience is much more intimate and engrossing than it could ever be in the theater. This movie has everything, unbelievable non-gimmicky 3-D and a real message.
