Cheap, reliable.
I guess this may not have the ELM chip, but I have not really noticed as it does what I need it to do, interface with my XTrons head unit and read the codes. I'm using it with a 2008 Jeep Commander and an XTrons head unit. I had to change the Bluetooth pairing code in my head unit from 0000 to 1234 in order to get this to work, but once done, it never fails to connect at startup so I pretty much leave it in the socket all the time.

Product now working...strange, but I'm happy.
When I originally connected the adapter it had trouble being found by the head unit's bluetooth capability. After a few reboots the head unit (a TE706PL: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CPS731Y/ ) detected the ODB2 scanner, but the scanner itself reported that it could not communicate with the vehicle ECU (vehicle is a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, 3.4V6, automatic transmission). As a means of testing the sender, I disconnected it in the head unit's menu, and then connected it to my Chromebook's bluetooth. I installed the Torque Lite app on my Chromebook and everything was working OK.So I re-connected the ODB2 scanner to the head unit, thinking I would need to troubleshoot the problem there, but then the everything started working!I'm a little worried that if it started working when I don't understand why, it can stop for the same reason. However, I think I was not properly re-setting the OBD2 scanner and/or the head unit when I was first getting errors. Connecting to the Chromebook perhaps properly reset the connection between the OBD2 scanner and head unit.

Does not connect, doesn't function
Bought this device to connect to my XTrons head unit, but does not function with the Torque app provided with the unit. The bluetooth connection works, however, Torque says there is a problem with the OBD unit and no data is transferred or displayed. To test the OBD unit, I connected another XTrons OBD unit (exact same OBD model that has been proven to function, but it's used in another vehicle with a different XTrons model head unit) and the same problem came up with this XTrons head unit (Model: PST10ACH_L).Would have been great and convenient to have this info integrated with my system, but unfortunately I just bought another 3rd party OBD system that connects to an app on my phone that works great. The XTrons head unit also works great in my car, again it's just unfortunate they couldn't work together considering they're both made by the same company.

A clone ELM that works and pairs easily with the XTRONS Andriod 8.1 head unit
4 1/2 stars because the low cost, it works as intended with a Xtrons TM100L while pairing on first try, but it is a clone that only does the basics thus not a true 5 stars. I did try a ODBLink LX unit but unfortunately the TM100L wouldn't pair.
