The Evil Within: Murdered by her stepbrother – the crime that shocked a nation. The heartbreaking story of Becky Watts by her father

Surreal and almost unbelievable
First, thank you to Becky's father for writing this book. I came across a YouTube documentary about the case but as I began to watch it, I remembered seeing this book before. I sat down and read it straight through. It's almost a tragedy of Biblical proportions. One woman's son murders the daughter of her husband? Human resiliency is showcased throughout. Now time for amateur psychology. Since there was no mention of Nathan using drugs we are not able to point to that as some kind of mitigating circumstance. All I can come to is that as the years went by and Becky began to grow into a slender and beautiful young woman, Nathan's lust and frustration that he couldn't have her began to grow. He and his girlfriend Shauna obviously had some Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka type thing going on. Also, all the porn use and fantasy obviously began warping his brain. He was probably a sociopath and I am surprised he was able to get through school as when you listen to his words he comes across as a weird little boy living in a comic book world. The whole kidnapping plot to teach Becky a lesson was clearly the best thing he could come up with and he stuck to it. The way he recounted how he told Becky to do as he said and she would be released...it's almost corny if it weren't so sad. He was going to teach her a lesson for being vain and rude. He has to be one of the strangest man-children I've ever read about. That's why I wonder about his IQ. It would be fascinating to know about his biological father and whether he was mentally ill. I would love to see this man evaluated in depth by a professional but maybe all you see is what you get? A lazy clod, fixated on young girls who got his psycho girlfriend to help him try and have a go at a fantasy that was eating him alive. My best wishes to the family of the "Angel of Bristol".

A true crime powerhouse
What an amazing tribute to Becky Watts! This is a book that was probably so difficult for her father to write, yet he reveals the entire raw portrait of the wicked tragedy that occurred in this family, while painting a beautiful tribute to the daughter he adored more than words can say. A must-read. I couldn’t put this down.

It reads like fiction
But it's true. It's a story of a loving family who endures an unspeakable tragedy. Yet the family endures. It's a story about what family and truly pure love means.

Book review
This book had me in tears and speechless. A heart wrenching story, but beautifully written and showed how love trumps evil. And how special the bond is between a father & daughter.

Utterly Heartbreaking
I couldn’t put this book down. Darren’s account of his life with Anjie and the children was beautifully written. Their strength and continued bond throughout this horrible ordeal is beyond admirable. Darren’s stories about Bex were warm and loving and had me laughing through my tears. This book was so well written that it literally puts you right there with Darren, sharing his precious moments and memories of his beautiful daughter. Highly recommend!

100% heart breaking
An absolute heart breaking story, I truly don't know how Darren and Anjie held themselves together during what just be every parents nightmare! My heart goes out to the whole family. It must have added greatly to their pain and anguish to learn that a family member had done such horrific things to their daughters. Bex night not have been Anjie's flesh and blood, but from reading everything here it's obvious she was her daughter in every other sense of the word. I honestly believe the family are right and that Shauna should have got an longer sentence for her involvement, it's obvious from reading that she was a manipulating person, and it's just unbelievable that she claims to have had no knowledge of what happened!I hope Darren,Anjie and the rest of their family have been able to move forward in their healing. As I say my heart goes out to the whole family. Sleep tight Bex you sound like you where a wonderful young lady. May your soul be at rest Bristol Angel indeed. X

Compelling
It is so hard to lose a child and so much harder I would imagine to lose a child when someone from within the family has caused the death.Darren and Anjie have to be congratulated on making it through since her son killed his daughter in a most horrific way. I think it is entirely natural that Darren wanted to pay tribute to Becky to make her life mean more than her death, but of course reading it now I was already aware of the care review that perhaps didn't view Becky's support by Anjie or Darren in quite the same rosy light he portrays it as.Darren now claims he knew Shauna was a 'wrong 'un' from the day he met her but of course it was the rivalry between Nathan and Becky that appears to have led to the unravelling. Sadly the book doesn't really answer any questions as to why he really did it.

A story of deceit
I am still in the beginning of the book , but will finish it soon. The days , when Becky got missing, who.lived only 200.yards from.my house, I'll never forget. It seems like she's a person of mine, of my family, I loved her from the moment she got missing and still.love her and her dad who.I believe is sometimes talking to.me when I come pass her house, I see the tiny window of the room, where she got killed. And still crying for this beautiful, gifted young Kid who grew up with a jealous monster and trusted him like a real.brother.I don't know, where to start. The book is precious to me, very well written and allows me to learn so much about her dad and what he went through from early age, the struggles, England went through in.his young Life and the hope he found through his precious little sunshine little Becky was.I will never in my life forget what happened ,the prayers I sent that she'd be found alive and then the shocking, devastating news which we learned here in our small neighborhood. R.i.p little angel , I love you and your dad xxxx

Such an unbelievable, harrowing story
This book although harrowing, unbelievable and truly horrific story, one of a parents worst nightmares it is very wellwritten. The book covers everything; the families past, the dynamics, the individuals as well as a thorough timeline. It goes into enough detail to enlighten you to the horrors of the crime but also the mental pain the family went through. Not an easy read at times but recommended

Very sad and thought provoking ni
How do you cope when your twenty three year old step son plans and executes murder on your sixteen year old daughter in the sanctity of her own house in her own bedroom ? This is always going to be uppermost in the mind of Darren and Anjjie and most importantly where were the signs ? Were there any clues to the evil about to unfold when a young man stops being a human being and becomes a monster ? And how do the parents pick up the pieces of their lifes and begin again? Well researched and loving portrayal of their dear daughter and the tragedy of her death at so young an age. God bless this family and support them in their grief.
