Works Great! Medium size
A little pricey for a plastic lid, but way better than trying to clean out the leaves all the time or paying someone to do it. Easy to install, works great with no air flow restriction PERFECT! Best $116.00 I ever spent.

May seem expensive but lasts for many years and keeps water, dirt and leaves OUT of your compressor
I've had a Kool Kap on my A/C compressor for almost 20 years. Works like a charm at keeping compressor virtually free of water, leaves and dirt.I ordered one for one of my friends recently. One thing I'd caution you about is making sure that there is enough straight-line flat space to attach the hinges, three in a row. Check the dimensions carefully before buying. I had to return the Kap because his compressor, although being square shaped, is the compact type and they're tried to save space by curving into the corners too much. That meant there was not enough space to mount the three hinges. I'm still rating this item 5 star all the way because I've used mine and will definatly buy another one if anything happened to this one. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!

Does what it’s designed for
I’m a property manager in west central Florida and some of my AC units tend to collect leaves. Leaves get wet, clog the drain holes then ultimately rust out the bottom of the unit. The Kool Cap saves the hassle of routinely opening the top of the unit to clean out the debris.Pros: It’s simple and does what it’s intended to do, keep debris from collecting in your AC unit. My one experience with customer service was great. I contacted them through Amazon messaging and they were quick to respond and took care of my problem.Cons: The hinges could use improvement. Follow the instructions, thoroughly clean the surface where the hinges attach. I have one unit that’s exposed to the wind. When the flap is open, it tends to twist back-and-forth in the wind and over stresses the two outside hinges detaching them. You could attach the hinges with screws as some have done, or add a second strap one at each corner, instead of just the one in the middle, to prevent the twisting.I will buy again.

DIY Adhesion works better!
Cap functions fine and as advertised, but I applied the adhesive (following the instructions exactly) and when the cap would open, it'd yank the hinges off the unit. I finally succumbed to buying 6 3/4" self-drilling screws at Ace Hardware and screwed the hinges to the unit. Voila....way better!

Read before buying, this product has several issues
I bought three Kool Kap lids from Grier Inc in May of this year and have had numerous issues with the product. I am not happy at all with these kool kap lids. First, the lids bang so loud on the top of the HVAC unit that my neighbor next door could hear the noise and complained. I had to spend around $50 to order specialized foam tape to dampen the noise. Yesterday, I came home to notice one of the lids had completely fallen off due to the plastic hinges that were holding the lid down had come loose and fallen in the dirt. Now it won't stick and one of the lids is completely useless. I am frustrated to say the least since I spent nearly $500 on three lids + an extra $50 on foam tape to dampen the noise from when the lid closes and bangs on top of the metal cage of the HVAC Unit.I contacted Kool Kap corporate myself at their Office #: 800-878-6614 and the customer service rep was extremely unhelpful. I explained the issues that I have had with the kaps and all she could say was that I could purchase more hinges from them and pay for shipping costs as well for around $20. Not happy at all with Kool Kap Corporate office. From a customer perspective after spending $500 on three of their lids + an additional $50 for thick foam tape to dampen the loud noise from the Kaps banging on top of the HVAC unit when the air cuts off, and yesterday I discovered the hinges that hold the lid to the on of the units had completely fallen off after only three months of use, to say I am dissatisfied is an understatement. I would not recommend buying these Kool Kap lids, and to discover how unhelpful the corporate office in New Jersey was in handling the issue, I have to give this product a one star rating.

Improper Packaging
The instructions advise of careful placement of the three positioning brackets “as you get one chance to get it right” due to strong adhesive. However, there was only one piece of protective paper, in the package, to cover the adhesive and all three brackets were stuck together in the package.Poor quality control. But very pleased with the product and it covers and protects the top of my air conditioner.

Koolcap not rising enough
The media could not be loaded. The Koolcap only rises halfway, don't think it is good for the a/c unit.
