I got this for my daughter-in-law, and the following is her review:I have seven and ten-year-olds who love to do crafts, and I am always looking for new things for them. These are really cute and very simple to do. The kit is an approximately 11x11 inch square of wide mesh with the picture printed on it. It comes with a nifty tool that you weave through the mesh and then pull the yarn through to tie knots around it. The finished product is a fluffy "rug" that has two loops at the top if they want to hang it on their wall. The best part about this is that they can do it independently. The instructions are clear and easy to follow with pictures, and the yarn comes precut in 2-inch lengths (thank goodness!). The yarn comes prepackaged in 5 rolls with various colors in each roll, so you do not have to get all the yarn out at once. This seems like a quality product, from the nice round handle on the tool to the binding around the outside of the rug. My only complaint is that the box is oversized- the craft could easily fit in a box half this size. This set makes a great gift for crafty girls.

I ordered two of these kits and they made a nice rainy day activity for my 6 and 7 year olds. The instructions were pretty straight forward and was similar to exactly how I remembered doing these latch kits as a kid. The yarn frays a bit easily and the yarn was just a tad short making it hard to pull through for little fingers. I remember the yarn from my childhood being a lot more durable but I do have to admit that this yarn feels much more soft though harder to use. The one thing I do like from this kit is that the mesh has a edging sewn into them so it isn't frayed. The sewn edging also has two loops at the top making it easy to hang. While my kids can do this activity, it has been slow going so it might take a while for them to actually finish the kit. This kit is a very nice craft for my 9-year-old. The set comes with everything needed (including the latching tool) and it is easy to display as soon as it is finished. The canvas size is ideal; it is big enough to be an enjoyable project, but not so large that the assembly becomes boring or protractive. The instructions are fairly clear. Having done similar kits before, I recommend starting on a lower corner and working one's way across, one horizontal row at a time; this keeps uniform tension on the canvas grid and makes it easy not to accidentally miss a square. The bound edges are a nice feature, as it eliminates any extra sewing needed after completing the yarn work. The yarn length seems shorter than I recall in kits of my youth, but it's manageable with the latching tool. Overall, a solid all-in-one crafting kit for any child.

I got 2 of these kits because they're a good size for younger kids to do w/o feeling overwhelmed. My 6 y/o can do these. She needed a little help at first, but quickly got the hang of it.I also like that these kits come w/a finished edge already. I use to get Latch Hook kits for my oldest daughter and then we always had to figure out something to do with the unfinished edges, but these kits took care of that problem. I will mention though that getting the piece of yarn into the corners is a little trickier because of the finished corner. The finished corner makes the open corner square a little smaller and the latch hook is a little trickier to get in, but it's still doable. Just note that you'll probably have to help your kid with the corners in these finished edge kits.Overall these kits are fun to do and they're cute. Perfect size for hanging on the wall.
