Does the job but read the review ;)
Due to the early freezing cold weather I decided to upgrade my single outdoor socket so it could keep my Camper Vans batteries topped up and also my car when I don't use it for a few days (the alarms on both vehicles use about 1 amp per hour)The one I've replaced is the single version of this double socket and it has worked flawlessly even though it can be quite difficult to clip/unclip the lid if using thick cable. The review:The first double socket that arrived had a manufacturing defect that needed to be returned (the lid would not clip together) but the replacement clips together fine (although stiff like the single but that's because It's IP66)Installation:Fitting can be a bit of a pain in the harris because each wall mounting recess has some kind of raised molding ridge which makes it very hard to centre the hole. Why the couldn't of made it flat - and even put a little dimple - I don't know as it almost looks like the manufacturer has intentionally made it difficult. Apart from that It's easy to make a hole in the centre to thread the power cable through and unlike the wall mounting recesses this has a dimple so the drill can be centered (You can also put your power cable through the side or the bottom which should be pretty straight forward)All in all it should last quite a long time but I have knocked off one star because one of the power LEDs does not work and they do not supply you with 4 wall mounting screws/plugs which would make it a lot easier to install.Oh and I actually drilled a hole in the wall next to a 240v hall socket that was not used (first checking I wasn't drilling into It's cable) and with a length of cable and a plug I can plug it into the wall socket and turn the external socket on/off when needed.

You'll need your own grommet to ensure its waterproof!
For a weatherproof socket, the fact it doesnt come with grommet to fit the electricity connection renders it pretty useless from a waterproof front. Having purchased one to do the job, I have no issued with the product itself, I just believe it should come with all the required component parts. So be warned, if you are ordering this, you'll need your own grommet!

Good price, shoddy quality
Bought this for a good price (sub £10), and was impressed with delivery time as usual. Unfortunately the knock out sections to fit the wires and rubber gommets through are not weak enough to break (at all, let alone cleanly). This means you have to drill and hack it away to make it fit. I've now had the socket fitted around 6 months, and after the 4th use the switch on the right socket has broken. Given the minimal use and it being located in a dry carport I find this shocking quality.Buy cheap, buy twice ...

Have remained functional and waterproof
I have 4 of these now in the garden, for various needs. The oldest must be about 3 years old now. None of them have failed. All have remained waterproof and no problems with any of the plastic housing breaking or the plastic closures breaking. I thought the plastic closures might snap, because they are quite hard to click on and off to seal the front cover, but they have been fine and still work well. The front cover is a semi-opaque black plastic and looks good. The LED lights inside come on when the switch inside is in the "on" position. Fairly easy to fit and have a full rubber gasket system to keep water out. You'll need to devise a way of keeping water out of the back where your mains supply wire comes through, but not difficult. Get an electrician to do it properly and protect the outside circuit with an RCD back at the house. These power outlets WILL NOT CLOSE OVER A TRANSFORMER PLUG, so don't expect them to work with your outdoor 12V lights powered by a transformer. The front cover closes perfectly and in a fully watertight way over conventional 13A 3-pin plugs. If you need to plug in a transformer plug, you'll need a different type of outdoor waterproof electrical box

Great but needs exchanged/refunded
This is a great and very well priced piece of kit. Easy to fit and adaptable, however unfortunately the unit has became faulty within 6 months hence 1 star. I believe this to be just poor luck on my part as everything else about it well built and I’ve gotten the bad apple from the bunch.I’d still recommend this product as these faults can happen with all different manufacturers.I’ll be requesting an exchange/refund.
