Fast, good build quality, works as a multiboot usb drive for Linux distros
I purchased it to work as a universal usb bootable device to boot various Linux ISOs. Previously, I used a Lexar flash drive for this purpose. It is very temperamental and is often not mountable. The Sandisk extreme pro works fine and doesn't have any of the problems of my previous flash drives. I haven't done a speed test, but it does seem responsive. An interesting quirk is that the blue led remains on all the time, even when you are not reading and writing. It does get warm. Unlike other users on this forum, I have not transferred large GiB files, so I have not experienced the high temperatures other users have reported. I purchased the 128 GB version. It came pre-formatted with a MSDOS label and a single exfat partition. I reformatted it with a GPT label and divided it into several partitions. I am using it as a Linux diagnostic and multibootable flash drive. It works exceptionally well for this use case.

The highest speed 128GB flash drive that I have tested on Windows 10 and Raspberry Pi 4
Drive: SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO USB 3.1 Solid State Flash Drive - SDCZ880-128G-G46 I love this drive when it comes to fast performance (405MB/s reads and 334MB/s writes in AS-SSD These have become my go-to 128GB drives for Windows 10 and Raspberry Pi 4. While they are slightly longer than competitors, their performance is great. I have not seen better for USB flash drives (NVMe SSDs on USB 3 Gen2 are of course faster). This device is a USB 3.1 Gen 2 device, but I have tested this device directly in a USB 3 Gen 1 (5gbps) and Gen 2 (10gbps) ports - nearly the same performance. Also tested on the well-known ST ext-powered Gen 2 hub, with a 3ft Gen 2 cable - slightly slower perf through the hub. See both Gen 1 and Gen 2 tests attached for AS-SSD and CrystalDiskMark. Pros: Performance, Performance, Performance Cons: Slightly longer than other 128GB flash drives but perhaps there is more/better flash controller inside leading to the high-end performance. If you know of other flash drives that perform better, please let me know. These work great on Raspberry Pi 4 devices (I have many). Some other brands (FIT: very small physical size) work great in Windows but very poorly on the Raspberry Pi 4.

Impressive Write Speed!
Update: After 1 week of use, the only con I can think of is that it does get warm when left plugged in. This occurs regardless of whether or not I'm actively using the drive. It doesn't get "hot", but definitely warmer than any other flash drive I've owned. This may be what has caused some of the failures that other reviewers have mentioned (and some even have mods for). I just won't leave mine plugged in when I'm done using it. Original post: I have one of the older SanDisk Extremes that I've been very pleased with. I typically have to transfer large (1-3 GB) files and the older SanDisk Extreme easily maintained >100MB/s write speeds throughout. It is still going strong but I wanted to have an extra in case it ever fails. I tried a couple other cheaper brands that promised even better write speeds but none came close to the SanDisk. Even the new version of the SanDisk Extreme doesn't keep up with the older one so I paid a few extra bucks for the Extreme Pro and WOW! This thing is way faster. I just transferred 5 files at once, totaling over 10GB, and it never dropped below 300MB/s writing to the flash drive! If this one lasts as long as my original SanDisk Extreme it will be worth every penny.

UNBELIEVABLE SPEED!
Just got this today (09/26/17). Bought it to make a Multi-boot Flash Drive. YUMI now has the option of creating a Win2Go partitions which work very well and it is very fast with this SanDisk Flash Drive. It only took about 10 minutes to create, which is in-it-self really, really fast. So once I was done with the Windows 10 Pro install, I decided to see just how fast it really is. My system is a very fast computer. Running at 4.7 GHz, it really gets things done quick. I also have twin hardware RAIDS (5 & 10) which are very fast. Normally it boots using a decent but older 250 MB SSD. So booting with this flash drive really surprised me because it was just about as fast as my normal boot up with the SSD drive. As a new install, it would of course be faster then the existing install would be, but the flash drive is running in a USB 3.0 slot as this computer is a few years old and does not have a 3.1 slot at all. Once up and running, using ATTO for benchmarking I benchmarked all 4 of the drives. Remember, these are either hardware RAIDS (2 of them), the SSD Boot Drive and the Flash Drive. I was very surprised with the results rather then talk about which one was the fastest, I did a screen grab of the winner. If you look carefully, you will see it's drive C:, which of course is the Boot Drive on this USB Win2Go install. This Flash Drive has to be a record holder I think.

Not perfect but a good flash drive
First, this thing is pretty darn fast. I'm not sure how reliable it will prove to be but my experience with the Sandisk Extreme Pro line has been good. A couple things I don't like about this are 1) the painted label which lists the capacity wore off in about two weeks and 2) the angled end is actually pretty sharp and the rigid body (I think it's metal) means that this thing can really poke you pretty good if it's caught in your pocket at just the right angle. Ouch. UPDATE: I've had this thing for a little less than a year now. Performance-wise it's held up well. I've noticed it can run pretty hot - like hot enough that it is uncomfortable to hold or put in your pants pocket. But it still works and the retracting mechanism has held up well. I had pointed out previously that the painted label wore off quite quickly. Well, approaching a year of use this thing looks extremely worn. The metal case is very scratched and I generally take good care of my electronics so whatever they've coated this with is not durable. This does not affect the performance or functionality at all but just thought I'd share. I'm not going to change my start review as a result of this because the performance really does make up for it.

I already possess a 64GB Sandisk Extreme USB flash drive that is really fast and works extremely well. This 256GB Extreme Pro USB flash drive is just as good (if not slightly better in performance) and one of the fastest USB flash drives in the market today. The only difference is that the Extreme looks a lot cooler with red lettering and has a slightly better connector retraction and deployment mechanism vs the Extreme Pro.
