Received my large rice serving bowl today. Absolutely beautiful and the quality is awesome. I almost feel bad for paying so little for such a delightful piece. Prepared rice, placed in new rice serving bowl... for our family, it actually held five servings. Some reviewers complain on the servings to be less but how huge of a pile are they serving? We serve moderately and not use half our plate for rice. Our bowl as well as serving spoon/spatula were more than I had expected. My spoon didn't "melt" as I read a reviewer claim and the bowl itself wasn't thin nor was it poor quality by any means. Delightfully sized, not small in our eyes whatsoever. Uncertain how big some expect 3-4 servings to be (😊)? The design, color patterns, quality = perfect for my family. We are more than happy, pleased with our new rice serving bowl. Texture, design is radiant exquisite. Lots of smiles today. With all honesty, I highly recommend this product to everyone. Pictures I took couldn't capture the true shine I wanted to show but hope these pictures help give you an idea of what we see and why we are so very pleased with this item. And just a little 411: I've shopped in many Japanese stores for dinnerware and groceries and the prices are high but so is the quality and it's worth every penny... in other words, this product I just received is a real deal, a steal even. Will purchase another immediately!

I bought this for my wife, who is Asian and for whom rice is a staple. She loves it. It is well-made, good value for the price, looks nice, and keeps her happy. What's not to like?

the rice bowl is perfect - as a server, of course; the version I ordered was 'large' which actually looked kind of small when I got it, but then again, it's supposed to keep a portion of rice on the table (the rest in the cooker, keeping warm...er) and to be replenished every now and then. It was enough for five dinner guests, and I didn't even have to replenish. One thing is that the spoon is a little short and its plastic wasn't so durable: It rests fine, when there is rice in the bowl, but when the bowl is empty, it slides in entirely (so you don't know if the spoon is in the bowl or not); also, I used the spoon to scoop the rice from the rice cooker in to the bowl, which would be something you would use this spoon for, and at the end - of just one attempt - the spoon melted a little (got deformed) from the heat of the rice. Secondly, and more importantly, it's not very durable: I like this bowl design so much that I have ordered at least three ... but the reason is because it has cracked, twice. I am now seriously looking to see if I can find another product. Finally, we had one when I was growing up that had an inner bowl, which, most likely, helped insulate the heat.

Had this exact replica of the serving bowl in our household as a kid until that fateful day when mom left it on the hood of the car and drove off. It ended up on the side of a busy road beyond salvageable, and we never looked back. So glad I was able to find it here some fifty years later. Mom passed away a few months ago (JAN 2023), and this bowl is a sweet reminder to me and my three brothers of how often she used this for beach outings or potluck dinners. Miss ya, mom.

I sent this to a friend as a gift She also ordered the smaller version. It's attractive and handy for serving rice Plus it has a handle on the top to grasp the cover. Yes the serving spoon is a bit short, but we serve sticking rice so it's not a problem Or we use a wooden spoon with a longer handle for other dishes

Just I remembered it. Had one while growing up. Helps keep your rice from molding. Size good for empty nesters.

It’s actually really cute. But, smaller than expected. Used it a a family gathering and guests loved it.
