We have the most vicious mosquitoes in So Cal day and night! If I want to enjoy the outdoors, I spray myself with Cutter and burn my mosquito repelling torches. The insects really do stay away with this product. When I forget to spray it on, they feast on my blood. The Skinsations has a mostly clean scent; however the bug repellent odor is definitely present. I figure it’s better than having dozens of itchy bites for a week! The texture of the formula is similar to spray on sunscreen. Just spray a light mist and rub it in. I recommend doing this outside because it gets everywhere.

I keep buying this product in various forms (pump, aerosol) because I WANT to like it, but it’s just not super effective at getting the flies out of my face when hiking! It smells great, awesome for sensitive skin - I spray it right on my face - and no mosquito or tick problems. But the flies, the constant flies, trying to drink my sweat and eyeball liquid. Why. Also the aerosol top is a little awkward, it doesn’t stay in place when spraying and turns slightly, so you have to start & stop and finagle it a little (unless I got a defective one).

We live in an area where there isn't a lot of water, so subsequently not a lot of bugs, either. This year was exceptional and we were looking for something to keep insects at a distance when walking the dog.Sadly, this didn't do the trick, at least not for flies and other flying insects in our area, which drove us batty. I'm giving it three stars because it might work for mosquitoes - we don't get a lot of those here - but it definitely isn't what we need.
