How well does this hold an edge?** A: Victorinox uses steel designated as EN 1.4110. The chemical designation of the steel is X55CrMo14. It’s Rockwell hardness is only 56 so it’s not a particularly hard steel. I find very easy to sharpen and it holds a good edge for a decent time. If you use it to cut boxes it won’t hold an edge very long but it’s so easy to sharpen I don’t mind. Just be aware that this isn’t a super steel or even close to VG-10 but it’s not bad. **Q: What are some good cases for this ranger grip 55 onyx black that are protective but nice?** A: The pouch it comes with is nice enough for me.
